Really lovely - We've done a couple of cooking courses in Italy before. This one seemed quite cheap so we weren't expecting too much. However, we had a lovely time. Mum (with no English at all) just got on with her usual food preparation for a normal fresh pasta meal. Her son translated (our Italian is embarrassingly bad) and got in her way so she occasionally grabbed the kitchen utensil or pushed him aside like Mums do! Dad and the dog sat next to us watching telly. It really felt like we were involved in a normal family day. We got lots of hands-on experience rolling pasta and trying to make Tortelloni. Then we all sat down together to eat. Charming experience. We really enjoyed it. Be warned, their lovely house is in the middle of nowhere so take a taxi.

Making pasta! - We travelled to Modena to participate in this class - it was so much fun and the food was amazing! Our hosts were absolutely lovely. They showed us how to make egg pasta, crescentina (tigelle), and gave us a taste of balsamic vinegar and wine from the region. It’s fairly easy to get there by bus or taxi if you have no transport (if you take the bus you can use the 551! Our bus driver said they didn’t know the stop but it does exist).

The best meal we had on our trip! - Stefano and his mom were welcoming and organized. We learned about making the food and its place in Italian culture. They were very generous as they shared two wines, grappa and espresso. I would recommend this activity to couples and families. However, I am not sure they can accommodate large groups.

Authentic Modena food and fun cooking experience - He usually hosts home cooking experience for a small intimate group from party of 2 to 6 max. His mom is there to show you how then you are going to do it yourself. My Chinese dumpling making skills come in handy :) He changes menu according to season and guest preferences which is super great. I walked away with a full belly and a happy soul.

Perfect addition to a trip to Modena! - This was the highlight of our trip to Modena! Stefano and his mother welcomed my partner and I and one other couple into their lovely home on farmland just outside the city center. We spent the day learning about traditional modenese cuisine, cooking copious amounts of pasta, and drinking lambrusco. All of the food was made with fresh ingredients from the family garden. We had such a great time learning about the family’s history and how to hand craft the perfect tortelloni under the gentle guidance of Stefano and his mother. Definitely recommended!

Beyond excellent, authenitc, cooking experience has created a lifetime memory for our family - Our family with two young teenagers did this cooking class with Stefan and his mother in their actual house just outside the Modena city center. We did it as a day-trip from where we were staying in Verona). Under the direction of Stefan and his mother, we made pasta dough from scratch, rolled it out, and then used this to create, both a stuffed tortelloni (spinach and cheese filled) as well as a pasta that resembled rigatoni. Stefan's mother then cooked these for a few minutes, added a few ingredients to create two simple sauces, and we all sat down to eat lunch together (with Stefan's family). Our meal included these two past dishes, some other dishes that Stefan prepared for us: an appetizer of cheese and aged balsamic vinegar - the best balsamico we've ever tasted, by FAR!!, as well as a freshly prepared mini pita type breads that you stuff with cured meats and eat hot, right off the iron - delicious!), along with wine and suitable drinks for our kids. We spent over a week in Italy and had some fantastic restaurant meals, but I think this one was probably the best! I can not say enough positive things about this experience. Stefan and his family welcomed us into their home and made us fell like we were visiting relatives who were helping them prepare a usual meal we could all enjoy together. They showed us the importance of using the freshest ingredients and told us everything we used so that we would have to chance to try to replicate this in our own home kitchen. If you can manage to visit the Modena area while in Italy, I highly recommend you do this incredibly authentic cooking class.

Appalling - he cancelled and still hasn't sent refund - I booked and paid for this, booked a rental car to get there, and was really looking forward to it. The night before the course he sent a message "hello sorry too short notice we have to cancel and reufnd you". I asked about doing the next night instead, but he replied "sorry we won t be available untill the end of the week.i m going to cancel and refund you now ok". So the excuses were different. That was 7 weeks ago and I still don't have a refund. Extremely disappointing because his cancellation late on the night before meant we couldn't book into anything else. I would not recommend booking this.

Bad Experience - Booked this cooking class well in advanced. Really looked forward to it. The night before the event, the organizer shoot us a message that they have too little bookings for it to take place. We surely understand this, but if we would have known that before we would have organzied something else to do. You wouldnt do that late in the night before. Thats the first thing, 2nd. we still waiting for the already payed course refund!!
