CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA

SORAYPAMPA - Guests will be picked up from their hotel in Cusco between 4:30 am and 5:00 am to travel by bus to Mollepata. The journey offers a spectacular scenic drive through the Anta plains, featuring stunning panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay and other snow-capped mountains, as well as the Apurimac River Valley. After a two-hour drive, there will be a stop in Mollepata for breakfast (not included), last-minute supplies, leg-stretching, or bathroom use before continuing to Challacancha. Here, the support staff will load the equipment onto horses and mules. Around 9:30 a.m., the trek towards Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level) will begin. Maintaining a regular pace, it will take approximately 2 hours to reach Soraypampa, the first campsite (featuring crystal domes and huts with a beautiful panoramic view). After lunch, there will be an afternoon visit to Humantay Lake (4200 masl) with a S/20 entrance fee. This hike takes about 3 hours round trip from the camp to see the glacier lake of Humantay.

SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – HUAYRAMACHAY – CHAULLAY

Salkantay Trail - Early in the morning, guests will be woken up with coca tea. Around 5:00 am, a nutritious breakfast will be served, and by 6:00 am, the most challenging day of the Salkantay trek will commence. The hike will ascend to the highest point of the trek, covering 6 kilometers uphill through magnificent Rocky Mountain scenery and views of Salkantay Mountain. Upon reaching the top, guests will enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level), the second-highest mountain in the Cusco region. After a 2-hour downhill trek, a delicious Peruvian lunch will be served around 1:00 p.m. in the area called Huayracmachay. The hike will then continue to Chaullay, taking approximately 3 hours downhill to reach the camp in Chaullay (2900 masl), where guests will sleep in charming Indian huts. Dinner will be served around 7:00 pm to help recover energy from the trek.

CHAULLAY - COLLPAPAMPA – LA PLAYA – LUCMABAMBA

LUCMABAMBA - LLACTAPATA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

Mirador de Llactapata - The hike will begin early, offering the opportunity to experience a small part of the famous and highly-acclaimed Inca trail. Guests will arrive at the Llactapata Inca site, located directly in front of Machu Picchu. From this vantage point, it is possible to see not only the ruins of Machu Picchu but also Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain. After exploring the Llactapata ruins, the trek will continue with a 2-hour downhill hike. Throughout this part of the trail, Machu Picchu remains visible until reaching the Hidroelectrica train station for lunch. One of the most impressive sites in this area is the 300-meter-tall natural waterfall that generates electricity for the entire Cusco region. After lunch, guests will visit Intiwatana, a famous ancient rock used as a sundial during the Incan era. Historically, Intiwatana worked in conjunction with the famous sundial stone at the Machu Picchu site.

THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY – MACHU PICCHU!

Machu Picchu - Guests will wake up early after a refreshing night at the hostel to beat the crowds to the top of Machu Picchu and enjoy its serenity in the soft morning light. The Machu Picchu entrance checkpoint is open from 06:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Guests will hike up to Machu Picchu (a bus ride is optional for $12.00) and enter the hidden Royal Citadel of the Incas. A 2-hour guided tour will be provided through this incredible ancient city, visiting temples, terraces, palaces, priests’ houses, the sundial, the industrial sector, and the farming fields. Be amazed by the engineering ingenuity of the Incas, which was far ahead of its time and remains partially a mystery today! Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain can be added for an extra $60 per person, but reservations must be made in advance to ensure availability.
