Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa
Soraypampa - Guests will be collected from their hotel in Cusco between 4:30 am and 5:00 am to travel by bus to Mollepata. Enjoy a breathtaking drive through the Anta plains, offering stunning panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay and other snow-capped mountains, as well as the Apurimac River Valley. After a two-hour drive, there will be a stop in Mollepata for breakfast (not included), last-minute supplies, a leg stretch, or a bathroom break before continuing to Challacancha. Here, the support staff will load equipment onto horses and mules. At approximately 9:30 a.m., the trek to Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level) will begin. Maintaining a steady pace, it will take about 2 hours to reach Soraypampa, the first campsite, where lunch will be served. In the afternoon, there will be a visit to Humantay Lake (4200 masl) with a S/20 entrance fee. This involves a 3-hour round-trip hike from the camp to view the glacier lake of Humantay.
Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Huayramachay – Chaullay
Salkantay Trail - The day will start early with a wake-up call featuring coca tea. Around 5:00 am, a nutritious breakfast will be served, and by 6:00 am, the most challenging day of the Salkantay trek will commence. The trek involves a 6-kilometer uphill walk through the stunning Rocky Mountains, offering views of Salkantay Mountain. Upon reaching the highest point of the trek, participants will be treated to spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level), the second-highest mountain in the Cusco region. After a 2-hour downhill trek, a delicious Peruvian lunch will be served around 1:00 p.m. in the area known as Huayracmachay. The hike will then continue to Chaullay, with approximately 3 hours of downhill trekking to reach the camp in Chaullay (2900 masl), where participants will sleep in charming Indian huts. Dinner will be served around 7:00 pm to replenish energy from the trek.
Chaullay - Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba
Lucmabamba - Llactapata – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
Mirador de Llactapata - The hike will begin early, offering the chance to experience a small section of the renowned Inca Trail. The journey will lead to the Llactapata Inca site, directly facing Machu Picchu. From this vantage point, participants can view not only the ruins of Machu Picchu but also Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu Mountain. Following the Llactapata ruins, the trek will continue with a 2-hour downhill hike. Throughout this portion of the trail, Machu Picchu remains visible until reaching the Hidroelectrica train station for lunch. One of the most remarkable sites in this area is the 300-meter-tall natural waterfall that generates electricity for the entire Cusco region. After lunch, the journey will proceed to Intiwatana, a famous ancient rock used as a sundial during the Incan era. Historically, Intiwatana worked in conjunction with the renowned sundial stone at the Machu Picchu site.
The Most Important Day – Machu Picchu!
