Miriakamba Hut - The drive from Arusha to Momella Gate takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the gate, all necessary procedures will be completed before starting the trek. The journey offers stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the famous Momella lakes. Trekkers may encounter wildlife such as Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, and Warthogs. The trek continues for a short distance until reaching the Miriakamba Hut.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Mount Meru - Today’s trek follows a steep path along the ridge of the saddle. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy views of the stunning Meru crater, the ash cone, and Little Meru. Wildlife such as Cape Buffaloes and black and white Colobus monkeys may be spotted. The trek concludes at Saddle Hut. After settling in, a short trek to Little Meru (3810m) for acclimatization will be undertaken before returning to Saddle Hut.

Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Miriakamba Hut

Mount Meru - The day begins just after midnight with a light meal to maintain energy levels. The final ascent to Socialist Peak then commences. This steep climb involves navigating gravel and rocky cliffs and is the most mentally and physically demanding part of the trek. At the summit, trekkers can enjoy breathtaking views of the Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. Wildlife such as mountain Reedbucks and Klipspringers may be seen along the rocky ridge.

From the summit, the descent continues straight down to the Miriakamba Hut.
