Embark on this self-guided, GPS-based audio journey, the first segment of a quartet of tours traversing the eastward Pennsylvania Turnpike, conceived to beat highway monotony. You’ll be immersed in the fascinating prehistoric narratives of ancient tribes who trod this path, and the gripping histories encompassing the contentious period when natives and Europeans collided on this land.
Initiating at Monroeville’s Pittsburgh turnpike entrance, this tour gradually ascends into the crests of the Allegheny Mountains, culminating on its peak at the Somerset Travel Plaza. The voyage ensures an elevated understanding of past lifestyles that thrived here centuries ago, a promise I assure!
We’ll navigate together, learning to trail wildlife, figuring out how to woo a lifetime partner, and crafting an appropriate response upon individual encounters with natives – or potentially a Bigfoot – during our trek. The course trails the historic battleground that signified the downfall of the native tribes in the area. The proximity to the Flight 93 National Memorial opens an opportunity for a diversion to pay respects to the courageous.
Should this adventure appeal to you, be sure to explore parts 2, 3 and 4 of the series!
