- Historic Falmouth Cruise Port - Falmouth serves as the main town and capital of Trelawny parish in Jamaica. Positioned on Jamaica’s north coast, 18 miles east of Montego Bay, it is renowned as one of the Caribbean’s best-preserved Georgian towns.
Established by Thomas Reid in 1769, Falmouth thrived as a market center and port for four decades when Jamaica was the world’s leading sugar producer. It was named after Falmouth, Cornwall in the UK, the birthplace of Sir William Trelawny, the Governor of Jamaica, who played a key role in its founding.
The town was carefully planned from the beginning, featuring wide streets in a regular grid, a reliable water supply, and public buildings. It had piped water before New York City.
- Green Grotto Caves - The Green Grotto Caves are show caves and a major tourist attraction on Jamaica’s north coast. Named for the green algae covering its walls, the cave’s structure is notably different from inland systems; it is a Flank Margin Cave (old mixing chambers at the edge of the freshwater lens with seawater) with two distinct levels, indicating two periods with varying sea levels. The innermost cavern houses a crystal-clear underground lake.
Besides the publicly accessible sections, there is also a section of “wild caves” with relatively untouched ecology. Hydrologically, the cave system is linked with the nearby coastal waters.
- Columbus Park - On May 4, 1494, Christopher Columbus arrived at the island of Jamaica. Columbus Park in Discovery Bay marks the spot where Columbus is believed to have first set foot in Jamaica.
Adorned with cannons and maritime artifacts, this small park attracts tourists from all over who are interested in Jamaica’s history. Columbus Park is a charming three-acre (1.2-hectare) garden in picturesque Discovery Bay in the St. Ann area.
One of the most beautiful natural harbors in the Caribbean, Discovery Bay was renamed in 1947 to honor the place where it was once thought that Christopher Columbus first landed on Jamaican soil.
- Dunn’s River Falls and Park - At Dunn’s River, visitors can climb the falls all the way to the top, enjoying the breathtaking view. Dunn’s River Falls is a renowned waterfall near Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
- Blue Hole - This is truly a hidden paradise! Blue Hole is a refreshing escape.
What makes it special is the absence of vendors, allowing visitors to enjoy the magic of the pristine waterfalls and cool swimming pools.
Certified guides are available to lead visitors through the rugged terrain. For those daring enough, cliff jumping offers an incredible adrenaline rush.
