Experience the beauty of Jamaica’s Rockland Bird Sanctuary on a private tour. Feed and interact with a variety of birds, including the national bird, the hummingbird.
- Rocklands Bird Sanctuary ( Montego Bay) - This haven is populated by myriad birds native to Jamaica, as well as migratory species that journey vast distances to partake in the nourishment provided here. The Red-billed Streamertail and Jamaica Mango are so accustomed to human presence that they will eagerly approach a hand-held sugar water dispenser, with some even perching on one’s finger to sip.
Jamaica is home to four endemic hummingbird species, three of which are residents at Rocklands Sanctuary. The exception, the Black-billed Streamertail, is exclusively found in the island’s far eastern regions.
Entice the Black-faced Grassquit, Yellow-faced Grassquit, and Orangequit by offering seeds in your palm. Observe the Bananaquit and Greater Antillean Bullfinch as they flit about the feeders.
An open-air terrace is available for visitors to relax and watch various birds, including the Jamaican Oriole, as they frequent the feeders. The Common Ground-Dove and Caribbean Dove are also a common sight in the garden areas, foraging for seeds that are scattered throughout the sanctuary.
