Fantastic Kayaking Experience! - We took the kayak tour our first morning in the Monterey area. Jan was fantastic and passionate at explaining all of the wildlife we were likely to see, and how to best approach (or not approach) it based on what was best for the animals. The variety of wildlife was amazing. In our almost three hours, we saw lots of sea otters, a couple of dolphins, a whale (!), and a ton of sea lions that were extremely friendly and photogenic! Jan also provided us with a great history of the area, and a wealth of local suggestions for the rest of our stay, for which we were really grateful. Thanks!

Magical - My sister and I took the whole day booking (Which is cheaper if you book online, ahead of time) and we were out on the water for no less than three hours. It was absolutely magical. We were able to see otters out in the wild, doing what they naturally do. We also happened to visit during a time with enhanced sea lion activity so we were constantly being surprised by curious sea lions popping up next to our canoes and then swimming away. 10/10 recommend and I will be coming back with more people!!

Great eBikes & Kayaks - Awesome! Simple awesome fun time. We started w/ renting 2 ebikes for a couple of hours while we waited for our guided kayak tour. I apologize for not getting his name, but the shop manager was polite & helpful in getting us booked, signing the liability waiver, setting our expectations of what we could see. Jan was our excellent guide. She's an area resident since she was a teenager and knows all about the habitat, behavior, and ocean environment. I'll be requesting her specifically next time.

Well organized and fun - Had a great time kayaking from the Cannery Row location on a beautiful day. Everything was well organized and we saw lots of sea lions, seals, and otters!

Amazing wildlife! - I didn’t expect to see as much wildlife as I did! I literally had a sea lion pop up and swim right next to me. They provided us with gear to help keep us warmer, and taught us how to use the kayaks. They told us where we were most likely to see animals and have tips. I did end up getting a little seasick and had to end much earlier than I wanted, so if you get sea sick or might I recommend preparing and getting some sea sick pills so you can be out as long as you want.

Good experience - It was a very pleasant experience. You only need two hours to do the whole tour, take photos and enjoy. The only bad thing was that there was a biologist yelling at all the kayakers to stay away from the algae part, which is necessary to get from one side to the other. So it seemed illogical to me. The experience with the kayakers was very kind and pleasant. The only bad thing was that crazy man yelling at people. His treatment was very rude and overshadowed the great experience and service that the company offers.

This is now a must do every visit! - Kayaking in Monterey Bay was my favorite thing to do on this trip!! The people at Adventures by the Sea were absolutely wonderful! Kind, helpful, and friendly. They have everything you need for your adventure. We saw otters playing, seals, and sea lions. The water was pretty smooth. It was a WONDERFUL experience from start to finish. I will go with this company every single time I’m in Monterey.

Great sea otters but rent for half a day if poss. - We are from Europe and my wife has wanted to see sea otters for several decades - we don't have these in Europe. They were as cute as they appear on photos but retiring: you need a good zoom lens and a steady hand to photograph them from five kayak lengths away. Lovely gentle two hours. You should be able to rent kayaks for just 3 hours rather than a whole day.

The calm before the storm - Started off great, I was told that the water was a bit choppy but decided to try anyway, I asked which way to go first was was instructed to go right towards the seals but not beyond the rock. So I made my way that direction and watching the seals was cool. I turned around to go back and the wind picked up and the current was going hard against me, I've kayaked in rough waters before and consider my self fit, so I wasn't too concerned, however after 1 and an half hours of 2 strokes forward I was going 10 strokes back and was unable to get back the way I came. After multiple attempts I called the shop for help, the kayaker (employee) came out to get me, instead of asking if I was OK he yelled at me "I told you not to go this far!", I was mortified as it was now I am getting scolded like a child. He tethered the kayaks together and said "keep paddling, I'm not going to carry you?", I never stopped paddling, nor did I intend to, we took a different route back toward the marina, once there he said in a harsh voice, "turn you equiptment back to the shop!', he was so angry I felt horrible. I said "thank you and sorry". I am grateful to have had some assistance but there was no point in being so rude and mean. I would not return or refer anyone. The other employees back at the shop were very nice.
