My husband and I did this... - My husband and I did this tour on September 10, and we were very happy with everything we were able to see! We are beginner birders and this was our first birdwatching tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to spot many birds we would have walked right past. Some of our favorites from the tour were the emerald toucanet, lessons motmot, common chlorospingus, scarlet-thighed dacnis, keel-billed toucan, and even a green pit viper! We were hoping to see the resplendent quetzals and three-wattled bellbirds, but they go down to lower elevations during the time of year we were there. We had a great trip and were able to add 24 birds to our life list!

Excellent experience for watching birds! - My husband and I did the Curi Cancha bird watching tour on Friday, Dec 6th, 2024 with our tour guide Roy. Roy was a friendly, kind and knowledgeable guide. He was comfortable in both English and Spanish and clearly an expert at spotting birds from a distance in spite of the non stop rain. We saw toucans, MANY different types of hummingbirds, thrushes, broad billed motmot, warblers, birds of prey, squirrels, agoutis, monkeys, iguana and coatis all thanks to Roy! He helped us take pictures and videos through his telescope and was kind enough to offer to take pictures of us in some cool spots in the park. He shared tons of really interesting facts about the flora and fauna and was happy to answer our questions. The Curi Cancha reserve is a lovely forest and Roy is an absolutely fantastic guide! We highly recommend this tour!

An excellent guide for a special tour in Curi Cancha - We had an excellent tour with Roy in early September. We are not bird specialists but Roy educated us and provided a lot of details. It was not the time for the quetzal as their favorite avocado tree was no longer in season but we saw a lot of birds including toucans, motmot, hummingbirds, guan, euphonia, warblers, tanagers and many others gorging on figues and hiding in the trees. But Roy also pointed us toward a large side striped palm "Green" viper and other mammals. He also showed us the Merlin ID app (which we did not know) which was awesome to continue our discovery of birds for the rest of Costa Rica vacation. He shared his passion and knowledge. We truly enjoyed the 3 hrs long tour.

Incredible day at Curi-Cancha with Deyber! - Excellent in every way. Ended up only being our family of 4, with our excellent guide, Deyber, whom was able to help us see so many amazing birds, including 5 Resplendent Quetzals! He was able to spot and locate birds we never would have seen on our own. He was very kind, and shared his incredible amount of knowledge with us about the Curi-Cancha Reserve, the Monteverde area, and of course about the birds we saw! Excellent and highly recommended!

So worthwhile! - Our guide Roy Hernandez was so knowledgeable and helped us see so many different birds at Curi Cancha including many beautiful quetzals as we as toucans, a toucanette and more. Roy speaks great English and we learnt a lot about native birds and wildlife. We would never have spotted these birds without Roy as our guide and so I highly recommend booking this tour (It pays to arrive early). Roy also helps you take photos through his scope so I’ve got some great memories to share with friends and family back home. Thanks Roy!

Wonderful for families! - We had a great time. We saw many birds, including a pair of quetzals. We aren't hard core bird enthusiasts, we just like animals. We brought our grumpy kids along. Roy was very knowledgeable about the birds, but what was really great was how he engaged with my kids, showing them insects and plants that they might like. The most magical moment was when a group of coatis, including babies, walked around us. I think we will always remember this. If you are on the fence because you aren't a huge bird watcher, I think you would still greatly enjoy this tour. Thank you, Roy!

Fantastic day spotting Quetzals with Roy - Roy was the best tour guide we had throughout our trip in Costa Rica. He has a great skill at finding animals and he has a vast amount of knowledge. We were looking for quetzals and he went above and beyond to help us get the most amazing view of both the male and the female. He made a highlight for our trip that we will never forget. Thankyou Roy!
