Fun experience for everyone - We really enjoyed our tour through the forest. We were initially booked with another family unknown to us and upon arrival were told they would separate us into two groups. Our guide, Kevin, was great. We had several different guides throughout our time here in Costa Rica, and found him to be the best. We started on the standard tour, but Kevin mentioned that there were several animals spotted in different locations if we wanted to try to look for them. What a good suggestion, we managed to see many different animals including monkies, a green pit viper and a family of wild pigs amongst others.

We saw an ocelot! - Ray was an excellent guide, I highly recommend him. He has been guiding tours for at least a couple of decades and hasn't lost a bit of his enthusiasm for his work. One of the first animals we saw was a mother ocelot and her cub, spotted by a different guide. It was very exciting as ocelots are difficult to see in the park. Ray took us down different paths and showed us birds, plants, an agouti, etc. He was personable and funny and really made the tour special.

Great cloudforest tour - The cloudforest is a wonderful place to visit if you're a nature lover. Sightings are not really guaranteed since the forest is quite dense. But we got lucky and saw a family of coatis, spider monkeys, agouti, a peccary and even the beautiful quetzal. Our guide was pretty knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting info on everything within the cloudforest ecosystem. I'd definitely recommend this tour.

Wonderful tour guid - My wife and I took a Cloud Forest tour with Roy and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to see so much more than they would without a guide. We visited on a day when it was absolutely pouring rain, and Roy was still able to spot monkeys, turkeys, and numerous other birds and animals (some which walked right by our feet). On top of his fantastic spotting abilities, Roy was a wealth of information and made our stroll through the rain forest a wonderful learning experience. We will definitely be in touch the next time we visit Costa Rica.

Good experience - Roy is very professional and knows the forest very well. But unfortunately we didn’t see any animals or birds. It started raining heavily half way and we had to rush back. Overall it was good experience

A must-do - My best friend and I joined a small group on this tour with our guide, Deyber. He is knowledgeable and passionate about the ecosystem, providing fascinating insights into the flora and fauna that call the cloud forest home. We saw several reptiles, butterflies, hummingbirds, and a toucan. There is a gift shop on site as well as a small cafe. Absolutely enjoyed this tour and would recommend to all :) Pura Vida!

Roy is great! BUT , pass on Monteverde and go to La Fortuna unless you are a biologist/birdwatcher etc. - To be clear, this is a rating of Monteverde itself, not Roy and his brother (both of whom are excellent). We had just come from 4 nights in La Fortuna after a number of excursions etc. Monteverde was not worth the 3hr drive from La Fortuna where we saw more wildlife (Armadillo’s, monkeys, snakes, poisonous frogs …) than in Monteverde. Apart from the wildlife spotting, the walk within Monteverde park itself culminates with a waterfall but is very secluded with no views. Overall, go if you are a hardcore environmentalist but skip this and spend your time in La Fortuna.
