- Plaza Independencia - Starting at the Solis Theater, we’ll head to Plaza Independencia, the main square of Uruguay. Here, we’ll explore the monuments, the significance of the palm trees, and other city secrets. We’ll begin with a historical overview of Montevideo and Uruguay.
- Monument to General Jose Gervasio de Artigas - We’ll delve into the meaning of this monument and visit the Artigas Mausoleum located beneath it.
- Palacio Salvo - We’ll admire the building’s architecture and discuss its history and legends from the outside. This site is also linked to the famous Tango “La Cumparsita.”
- Estevez Palace - We’ll view one of the former Executive Power headquarters, which served this function until 1985.
- Torre Ejecutiva - We’ll pass by the current Presidential headquarters, housing the president’s offices.
- Puerta de la Ciudadela - We’ll see the remnants of Montevideo’s old city wall at the Citadel Gate, the entrance to the Colonial city.
- Peatonal Sarandi - We’ll stroll through one of Montevideo’s most cosmopolitan pedestrian streets, experiencing its cultural diversity and passing through the Callejon de la Diversidad.
- Theatre Solis - We’ll view the city’s first theater, also the first in South America, from the outside, along with details of the old wall ruins.
- Plaza Matriz - We’ll closely examine the square’s fountain, adorned with Masonic symbols.
- Cabildo de Montevideo - We’ll take an exterior look at the Montevideo Cabildo.
- Catedral de Montevideo - We’ll enter the Cathedral of Montevideo.
- Plaza Zabala - We’ll pass through Ciudad Vieja’s uniquely rhombus-shaped block.
- Mercado del Puerto - We’ll enjoy one of the city’s oldest markets, featuring numerous dining and souvenir options, available only on the afternoon tour.
