A great way to get the lay of the land - I read a couple of negative reviews before I decided to go anyway, so I wanted to counter that review because my experience was really positive. Francois was an excellent guide, knowledgable and very entertaining. I switched buses after one go round and only went three stops, but the next guide, whose name I didn't get, was also really good. No one "begged for money," but of course they remind you that they work for gratuities. It's a really good way to get the lay of the land when you get to a new city and aren't sure what you want to see. Francois recommended the archeology and history museum and I have to say, it was an extremely cool museum. A unique experience I am glad I didn't miss.

A fun way to spend a day - We enjoy doing hop on/hop off tours when we visit new cities. The tickets we bought were for 2 full days, so the first day, we just rode around and decided where we would like to get off the next day. The second day off our tour, there was a bad fire in downtown that messed with the tour route, but we still enjoyed riding the double decker bus. Stops are close to the cruise port, Le Grande Ruoe, Basilica Notre Dame, Chinatown and more.

Stops not marked - The tour was interesting! The only downside is that the stops should be marked with signs or exact addresses of the stops given on the website. The guides were very informative.

Would be nice to see the bus schedule - It would be nice if Viator shared the Gray Line Tours bus schedule. Viator said buses start at 10 am. But the bus wasn’t scheduled to be at our closest stop until 10:50. Lots of waiting.

Enjoyable experience, great to get your bearings in Montreal - Really good information provided by Francois about Montreal. He catered his commentary well given the audience.
It’s a good idea to do a full circuit before getting off to see things, and recommend that you do this on the upper level. Bring a coat though, it will get cold in the fall.

Overpriced - Overpriced for 1.5 hour bus ride. There was a tour guide who spoke English and French throughout the journey. Would only purchase if using the bus multiple times. Also unlike advertising, the bus comes every 30 mins instead of 15.

Good tour but... - What we liked: It ran more frequently than hop-on buses in other cities. The route it took covered many of the city's best sights. What we didn't like: Our first guide insisted on giving his commentary in both French and English, meaning he had to speak quickly and was difficult to understand because of his strong Quebec accent. This was billed as an English-language tour, and sure enough, other guides only gave their commentary in English, usually going into far more detail than driver #1. Also, this first guide repeatedly asked to be tipped, saying it is customary in Montreal to tip your hop-on guide and driver. It got a little tiresome hearing this at each stop.

Rude and false - First of all the tour only ran to 4pm. Most hop on and hop offs are at least to 7 or 8pm I stood at the waiting spot for over 30 minutes waiting for the bus. I got on at 3:15. I was standing out there at 2:15 and was told they come ever 30 mins. Which is not true! They did not stop at the last two stops becauae they said it was to much traffic. That should not be a reason not to stop at
those stops as they are part of the bus tour stops. Next, they proceed to tell us this is the last tour bus for the season. Which means no tour bus tomorrow 10/21. So I did not get to see all the spot and enjoy my two day pass because they will not be operating the bus due to today the end of the season. Not fair and this is false advertisement especially if it was avaliable to buy the two day pass. I was expecting to go in the moringbto actually get off the bus at my fav spota. The lady who was moderating was extremely rude to me. I asked her about one of the stops. And her response was "what" I said oh you don't want to help me. Just rude AF! I am requesting a refund asap..very disappointed in this hop on and hop off experience. These ppl are rude!!

Terrible experience - This has been a miserable experience. We bought the ticket yesterday and they told us that we can use it the next day. We ended up only doing one stop with tbe plan of doing the tour next day. Next day, we found out that the stop next to our hotel is closed due to a walk. They did not have an alternative stop so directed me to stop no 4 which was more than 30 minutes walk. But the address they give is probably wrong. I have been waiting it has past the scheduled departure time by 10 minutes with no bus on sight. I had limited time to see the sights in Montreal and I wasted more than an hour to find the bus. My hotel called them I asked for a refund but they refused. Never using gray line again.
