Highlights
  • Moo Moo Roadhouse - You will ride the Northern Rivers Rail Trail on one of our fantastic German Made E Bikes.
Meet us behind the legendary Moo Moo Roadhouse, Mooball.

You will effortlessly cruise the full length (24km) of the trail to Murwillumbah, have lunch in any number of great cafes or restaurants, maybe visit the Tweed regional Art Gallery and/or the M Arts precinct then then cruise back to finish back in Mooball.

To make sure you don’t miss anything we can also supply you with our custom smartphone app that shows all the points of interest and lets you see where you on the trail. Along the way you can visit some great cafes, explore four cute hinterland villages, navigate two old railway tunnels (one 524m long with glowworms and microbats), cross two historic restored railway bridges, visit Hosanna Farmstay for a great lunch and say hi to the Alpacas, explore antique shops, visit art galleries, take in the amazing views and much more…

The Northern Rivers Rail Trail is a purpose built bike trail built on an old railway line (so no hills!) , there are no cars so safe for all ages. The surface is excellent, a mixture of tarmac and compacted gravel, so easy riding (especially on an E Bike).

Best way to spend five hours - A great day out on the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. The trail is smooth and gentle; the tunnels and old rail line details were interesting; the landscape is beautiful. And the bikes from Beyond Byron E-bikes were first rate. Really nice couple of guys running the bike hire added to the experience. Can also recommend the coffee next door at the MooMoo cafe.

No snakes were harmed on this ride - Easy riding, lovely countryside. If you go on a Monday or Tuesday, the wonderful Tweed Regional Art Gallery, with the great Apex Cafe, will be closed. You will miss out, like we did. Fortunately, we have been there before and that is why I can confirm it is well worth the visit and the best stop on the trail. I recommend including this stop on your tour. Really, the main other lunch option is at Hosannah Farm, which serves fairly ordinary food. Looks like a Christian family farm-stay camp, if this is your thing. Overpriced activities: $15 per person to meet and pat a bunny!!! Other lunch options mean looking around Murwillumbah (can't help you there) or stopping ten minutes up the road at Burringbah, where there is a good general store/café. While in Burringbah, I thoroughly recommend a rummage in Heaths Old Wares antique shop, open seven days. It is September and the snakes are coming out. We nearly ran over a python on the path, so watch out for snakes. It was easy to hire the bikes, the process was simple online and the person we dealt with in Mooball was delightful. There was a range of sizes of bikes. They were good bikes — although the seats were not at all comfortable. Two days later, I still have sore bum bones! Wear your padded bike shorts, people.

Awesome experience! Highly recommend - My family and I went for a half-day ride. It was one of the most fun and memorable experiences we've had in a long time. The rail trail is stunning and the E-bikes make the whole thing effortless. I had a 4-year old in a kids trailer. My 8-year old ride her own bike and she easily rode the 26 km round trip to Hosanna Farm. The Beyond Byron staff are friendly and helpful and will get you going quickly. Everything works great and is spotless. Can't wait to go back!

Great day out - Fun bikes to do the northern rivers rail trail. The trail itself is lovely; through farms and some villages. Well worth the trip. Bikes were comfy and had heaps of battery power. Staff/owner was very friendly. Recommended.

It's a long way! But great views - This was such an amazing bike ride. Even though it's an e-bike, the entire 50km return is a looong way. Our 4 year old enjoyed it and the stop in Hosanna at the farm, just plan if you are going to stay there long time (there are some free things to do and things that cost). We went the entire way to Murwillumbah but probably should gave turned around before the end. It took the entire 5 hours to do that full trip.

Great bikes and trail - Great way to spend the day. E-bikes make the whole trail, which is quite flat and long, manageable. Stop at Margaret Olley gallery for yummy food. The Buringbar tunnel is fun. Excellent quality bikes, helmets and service.
