Amazing experience - From the begining of out hike - to the very end - everything was perfect ant taken care of: the taxi to Imlil, the guide, the lunch, dinner, the place to sleep with hot shower! early breakfast and lunch after the top… and the top.. guys, you must see it. Though the hike is not very easy, it’s quite steep. One very special person made it all even more perfect - our guide Hussain, who was leading us the way, adapted his pace to ours - one million thank you!

Wonderful summit tour with Abdou - Booking with Trekking Morocco, who were the only ones offering a reduced price for the solo tour, first by phone (nice conversation) and later via WhatsApp. Uncomplicated, you are reminded of many things that you should take with you (e.g. pass for national park entry). The taxi transfer went smoothly. In Imlil I then met Abdou, my guide, who approached everything very professionally right from the start. He is very experienced (no wonder, someone who was already on Toubkal at the age of eight!), very patient and adjusts the running pace well. He motivates at the right times and always gives exact time information. You always feel in good hands with him. He and the chef also conjure up delicious dishes during the breaks. I can highly recommend this guide and this company!

Amazing trip to Mount Toubkal - I had a great experience on the two day Toubkal tour. I had booked a group ticket but was the only participant and had a private guide named Ibrahim. Ibrahim was a very good and friendly guide. He puts a lot of emphasis on making you feel comfortable during the climb. He sets a comfortable pace, takes regular breaks and can tell you a lot about the region and nature. It was a great experience and I absolutely recommend it. There were authentic lunches and dinners and an overnight stay at the Refuge Camp. The hike to the camp was very hot, but up on the mountain it can be very cold and windy. Appropriate equipment is therefore recommended

Toubkal with my girlfriend and Ibrahim - We had a great experience with this private tour!!! We started at Imlil with our guide Ibrahim and Omar, the chef. Omar did a great job making breakfast, lunch and dinner with tea. It was a lot and very nice (traditional) dishes. The first day was not easy because of the sun but absolutely doable. You could drop some bags on the mule: Omar takes them with him on the trip to basecamp. There are a couple of stops where you can buy some refreshments (coke, etc.) After 4-5 hours (and break) we arrived at the sleeping place. Overnight we stayed at the basecamp in a shared room (private room was also possible but more expensive). After diner we had a little chitchat with Ibrahim, very nice guy! We asked if we could go early in the morning to the summit to see the sunrise, which wasn’t a problem! Day 2 we started in the dark and after an our of walking my headlight was dead. Ibrahim gave his lamp to me and the trip continued. The last part requires quite a lot of climbing because it is steep, but also again not impossible or dangerous. We reached the summit as the first ones that day and it was unreal and so nice!! Thanks to Ibrahim for his care and good help it was a great and special trip. This trip is highly recommended!!

Good experience - Reasons for 4 star; - pick up was supposed to be 8.30 and was actually 9.15. - stopped on way at an Argan Oil shop - which wasn’t necessary, felt it put the timetable back. - sat down for lunch at 3.30pm and evening meal at 9.30pm. Me and my husband ended up going to bed without eating at 9pm as we was so tired. - wanted everyone up to set off at 4am which after evening meal would mean little to no sleep for some. Some in our group reported not sleeping at all. And other reported they only had an hour sleep. Despite this, I enjoyed the trek and I’m glad I did it. It’s icy in places, and extremely cold. Pack warm layers. Abdul helped me get my warm kit on when I was struggling with the cold. He made sure to hold me arm/hand in icy patches so I didn’t fall and was always reassuring and asking if I needed a break. One person on our treck started with bad altitude sickness and had to go back down but was poorly and couldn’t walk - Abdul carried her all the way down. Mohammed (who was with the faster hikers) then retraced his steps to meet us on the mountain so we wasn’t alone. I packed Diamox. I’m glad I did, a few people struggled with altitude sickness/shortness of breath. Overall I feel the pace could of been a little slower and there should of been more breaks to accommodate for people needing a quick bite to eat/energy.

Amazing hike and experience, communication needs improving - Firstly, the communication leading up to this trip was not good. No response to messages sent through Viator or what’s app to the tour provider. We managed to find a number the number and phoned and were advised we would get a message on what’s app with pick up details, but this didn’t come until the morning of the trip about 1 hour before pickup, so we were pleasantly surprised to be going. Our guide Yousef really looked after us at all times, he was very accomplished for his age. As it was a private tour he varied the pace to our needs. We summited mount Toubkal and stayed in the refuge overnight, an experience in itself. Cut off from phone signal with home lovely cooked food, sleeping in giant bunk bed with people of all nationalities - a new experience for us. When we were setting off we were advised that we would need to carry everything we needed for the night so could not take sleeping bags, the refuge had blankets, we were worried but there were more than warm enough. The tour is advertised as having a mule to carry your overnight bag to the refuge, and lots of others had this so unsure why we got switched. The hike was incredible and the tour guide yousef was good. The tour company communication needs improvement.

Viator: 1/5, Experience/Mountain Guides: 5/5 - Viator: 1/5 Experience/mountain guides: 5/5 We booked the 2 day private Mount Toubkal Trek for our family of 4 with 2 young adult children through Viator. We tried to check a few things ahead of time and they were impossible to reach via email or phone. The pickup was about 45 mins late and we still had to drive around Marrakech to pick up 3 more parties. Once we arrived in Imlil we realized that the private tour wasn’t private after all. We were in a group of 12. To cut a long story short: find a different tour provider, do not book through Viator. The mountain guides are accompanied by 2 mules and a cook. If you want to sleep in your own sleeping bag (there are blankets at the refuge) or bring extra gear or luggage, they will put it on the mules and take it up the mountain for you. On day 1 they provide a cooked lunch and dinner - there is always plenty of food. On day 2 they provide breakfast and a cooked lunch. Bring snacks for in between meals or extra boosts of energy during the hike. As there are numerous opportunities during the hike to buy water (including at the refuge), there is no need to bring water for the whole 2 days. Bring a headlamp. You will need it for at least 3 hours of the ascent. And I would highly recommend hiking poles for day 2, it is super steep and rocky all the way up and down. Bring layers and gloves. We did the trek mid May and it got really cold at the top. Day 1 is a 11 km pretty strenuous hike up the mountain to the refuge. Day 2 of the trek is extremely challenging - do not underestimate it. The tour description doesn’t quite explain how challenging it really is. Being an avid hiker like myself (and most of the members in our group) is helpful, but this trek is something else. My 22 year old son was one of two people who didn’t find it particularly hard - he bounded up the mountain like a young goat. We had 2 people in our group of 12 fall ill with altitude sickness. It was a huge struggle for them to get back down to the refuge, they threw up more than once and fell very nauseous and week. I thought about giving up and turning around more than once. I might have cried close to the top and uttered many choice words. And after a very tough ascent and almost equally tough descent (7 kms one way), you still have to hike 11 kms back to Imlil which is strenuous in itself. This was the physically hardest thing I have ever done. The mountain guides were absolutely fantastic. They were very good at looking after everybody and keeping everybody going. Even though we were initially annoyed and disappointed about not being in a private group, being in a big group enabled the 4 of us to hike with people who were hiking at the same pace, which was very motivating. All in all this 2-day trek was a fantastic experience to do as a family with young adults. We will talk about this for years to come. For me personally day 2 was too hard to be enjoyable.
