Selous Game Reserve - Morning of 8:30 am we will pick you at your hotel in Dar es Salaam and depart to Selous Game Reserve with a stop for a picnic lunch on the way. The journey will take 5 hours. There will be a late afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. This brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile, and fantastic bird life. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boats may approach elephant, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbuck, and other game on the river banks within a few meters. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam. Overnight at Africa Safari Camp.

The Selous ecosystem is home to a massive number of Elephants, Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile, and the threatened Wild dog. Frequent sightings include Lion prides, Bushbuck, Impala, Warthogs, Ostrich, Giraffe, Eland, Baboon, Zebra, Hyena, Kudu, the rarely seen sable antelope, and Leopards. Moreover, Selous is a bird-watcher’s paradise with over 400 species including the Fish eagle, Kingfisher, Secretary bird, Sunbird, Hammerkop, Red & Yellow-billed stork, Open-billed stork, Weavers, Water birds, Marabou stork, Vultures, and so on.
