Incredible Experience! Come for the waterfall & coffee, stay for the beautiful village, friendly people, and tasty food - Boni was one of the loveliest, most engaging tour guides we had the fortune of meeting. He's a really thoughtful, intellectually curious guy and happy to share about the Kiswahili language as well as local Chagga culture and the history of the region. He knows a lot about everything, and his English is impeccable. I really appreciated that he thought both about community and environmental welfare; it was evident that he wanted to make sure tourism was the least harmful possible. The walk through the village and to the waterfall wasn't long at all (and I wouldn't say it was a difficult walk either), and the waterfall was really beautiful. We were really lucky to get a glimpse at Mt. Kilimanjaro along the way as well! (Though we were told this doesn't happen every day, and indeed, we only got a peek at the peak for a few minutes.) The coffee making process was so fun, and all of Boni's friends who joined us for this and for the lunch were just as friendly and cool as Boni. I'm vegetarian, and the lunch of local ingredients we were given wasn't just a suitable option but absolutely delicious. Lots of banana-based dishes (very much local as the whole village is full of banana trees) as well as very full-of-flavor rice and beans, pliau, & kale. Suitable for vegans as well. Also, we had all our bags with us as we were headed straight to the airport after the tour. The tuk tuk driver Steven looked after our luggage while we did the activities without any problem. We felt very well looked after by both him and Boni. Only positive things to say. Would recommend this tour to anyone!

Best day out to materuni - I had the best time visiting the beautiful materuni village with boni! We hiked to the waterfall and then went to his home where his family roasts coffee. He and his brothers showed me the coffee making process from start to finish and were so welcoming and kind! Then we went for a delicious local lunch in the village. The village is just stunning and the ride through the mountains was so fun. I contacted him on WhatsApp and chose to be picked up on his motorbike - definitely recommend. from start to finish this was just the best experience and I cannot recommend it enough!! Asante to boni and all the brothers!! See you again

TIA (This is Africa) - It was so great Meeting the people Up here. You learn everything about how to make coffee from Coffee berry to final result and you can taste your selfmade Coffee. It's going to be the best you've ever tried. Afterwards we went through The beautiful landscape to the waterfall. It is about 95m high and you can Go swimming in the refreshing water directly at the bottom of the waterfall. We highly recommend Bony as our Guide who answered all our questions and thaught us the important Lessons about "Polepole" (slow, slow) and TIA (This is Africa) :) Also Mama prepares delicious local food for example Banana soup and you can try some Banana Beer.

Authentic coffee tour - We get picked up early from our guide Bony in the morning and had a ride to the materuni-village. There we learnd the traditional way of making coffee. The best thing: You can do all the steps by yourself. Starting from the coffee-bean to the rostig and stiring. At the end you can enjoy your selfmade coffee and had a friendly chat with the locals. After this refreshing experience we startet our walk throu the village and the sourounding nature to the waterfall. You might get a little bit hot during the walk but you can cool down in the pool directly beneath the waterfall. Refreshed you will start your way back to the village where a wonderfull homemade lunch will wait (e.g. Banana Soup). I would totaly recomend this tour and thank you Bony for this wonderful trip!!

Chaga cultural home visit with waterfall hike - I really enjoyed this daytrip and learning about the Chaga tribe. Getting a tour from someone from this town who is embedded in the culture and history was fascinating, and I really enjoyed the cultural aspects of the coffee plantation, including the process as well as ritual chanting surrounding it. It was much more than I expected and I was thrilled with everything. He really went above and beyond in showing me what I was interested in and tailoring the trip to me.
