Highlights

KILIMANJARO AIRPORT | MOSHI | SPRINGLANDS HOTEL

Moshi - Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel.

MOSHI | MARANGU GATE | MANDARA HUT

Kilimanjaro National Park - Altitude: 1,800 m – 2,720 m, Hiking time: 4 hours. Leave Springlands Hotel at about 8:00 a.m. and drive 45 minutes to Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate, such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 10:30 a.m. Hike through the rainforest from the park gate to Mandara Hut, taking about 4 hours. Stop halfway for lunch. Reach the Mandara Huts at about 2 or 3 p.m. Unpack, rest, and have tea or coffee. Dinner is served during the early evening, about 7 p.m. A side trip to Maundi Crater (about 15 minutes away) is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Bathrooms are available with running water.

MANDARA HUT | HOROMBO HUT

Kilimanjaro National Park - Altitude: 2,720 m – 3,720 m, Hiking time: 5-6 hours. Wake up for breakfast (approx. 7:30 a.m.) and pack for the next leg. Break camp at about 8:30 a.m. and hike to Horombo Hut. This leg should take 5 to 6 hours. You travel through lower-heath land with small shrubs being the main vegetation. Stop halfway for lunch. Views of Mawenzi are amazing. Take a moment to take it all in. The summit of Kibo can be seen from Horombo Huts. Arrive at the Horombo Huts at about 3 p.m. Rest, unpack, and prepare for dinner. Bathrooms are available with running water.

HOROMBO HUT (Acclimatization Day)

Kilimanjaro National Park - On this day, you will have an extra day at Horombo Hut (3,720 m) for acclimatization. It will be great training for your body to get used to the altitude as you walk around the hut up to zebra rocks at an altitude of 4100 m and back. You will get spectacular views and familiarize yourself with summit weather.

HOROMBO HUT | KIBO HUT

Kilimanjaro National Park - Altitude: 3,720 m – 4,720 m, Hiking time: 6–7 hours. Wake up for breakfast as usual (if you wake before sun-up, you can get some great sunrise photos). Pack and begin the hike to Kibo Hut. The first half of the day’s hike traverses the upper heath land, while the second half crosses the vast saddle that connects Mawenzi and Kibo. The saddle is an alpine desert that resembles a lunar landscape guaranteed to blow you away. Be careful to notice signs of altitude sickness. Listen to your body and communicate with your expert guide, who will be there with you throughout your trek. The day’s hike should take 6 to 7 hours, stopping halfway for lunch. There is no running water at Kibo Huts.

KIBO HUT | SUMMIT | HOROMBO HUT

Kilimanjaro National Park - Altitude: 4,720 m – 5,895 m, Hiking time: 7 hours.Wake up at midnight to a light breakfast, then prepare for the summit ascent. This part of the hike is carried out early, before dawn, so the climbers reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Leave at about 1:00 a.m. and reach Gilman’s Point at about 7:00 a.m. The climbers are met with views of the crater from Gilman’s Point because it is on the Crater Rim. Another 2 hours of hiking brings the climber to UhuruPeak at about 8:30 a.m. From there, you will descend back to Kibo Huts, collect your things, and cross the saddle again at Horombo Huts, where you will spend the night. Eat dinner and get some well-deserved sleep.

HOROMBO HUT | MARANGU GATE

Kilimanjaro National Park - Wake up, as usual, pack, and descend to Mandara Huts. Have your lunch there and continue to the park gate, where you will be met by your transport back to Moshi. You should reach the park gate around 2 or 3 p.m. You will now drive back to Moshi for a long overdue hot shower and an overnight stay at Springlands Hotel. It is recommended to tip guides and porters. A tip is highly appreciated at the end of their trip. Tips can be given to the main guide at Springlands Hotel, as well as contacting our local representatives at Springlands Hotel who will help you organize this. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reach Stella Point (5759m) are issued green certificates, and those who reach Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates.
Overnight at Springlands Hotel or Similar (dinner).

Balance of Challenge and Comfort on the Marangu Route - The right balance of challenge and comfort on the Marangu route. The trail was not busy and overall quite clean. The huts are great and helped keep equipment dry. The guide was Dustin and he was very attentive to my needs, health and overall experience. With his support I made it to the peak! The Springlands hotel staff are very helpful. Amadeus in reception was always ready to help, Jack is an exceptional waiter at the restaurant and Linda was a great coordinator. Also Jane helped me navigate some communication between the hotel and the tour operator. Although there were a few communication problems, World Adventure Tours acknowledged the problem and found a solution in a very fair and reasonable way. I was satisfied with how they dealt with the situation and give them my highest recommendation based on their response. Big thanks to Joyce Gitumbi who went out of her way to ensure I was satisfied with the experience in Tanzania.

Wonderful Kilimanjaro Experience - Our experience with World Adventure Tours on Kilimanjaro will stay with me for a long time. They were awesome during planning leading up to the unforgettable trek with lead guide Mmasa and his able crew of porters, cook and guides. The trek was enjoyable despite the challenges of facing the tough terrain and harsh mountain weather conditions. My sisters and I made it to the top thanks to the exceptional support from these guys. If I were to do this trek again or go on safari, World Adventure Tours is my first choice for all the fantastic things they did for us. Keep safe my friends!

Worth Every Penny - Wonderful Kilimanjaro Climbing Company - Thank you to the whole trekking crew and office staff who organized and supported us during our Kilimanjaro climb for the spectacular job that you did. We were a small group of 4 climbers from Russia and Estonia and are extremely happy with the high quality service, especially having experienced professional crew support furnished with super good equipment and enough supplies of food, water, toilet paper and a mobile chemical toilet. Special mention goes to Musa the troupe leader for taking care of us from Moshi to the summit and back! Kimario the cook for making delicious meals, the porters who ferried heavy loads and Michael of reservations who handled our booking and helped put together this trip. The experience was worth every penny and I highly recommend World Adventure Tours.

Kilimanjaro with World Adventure Tours - My husband and I have always wished to do Kilmanjaro and we finally did it in December with World Adventure Tours. The company was recommended by our mutual friends and we are happy we took their advice. Upon our arrival we met the climbing crew at our hotel making all checks before the trek. The crew was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. They closely guided and monitored us as we trekked the mountain via Marangu route. We were like one big family sharing expreinces, learning many things about the mountain. Food was very good as they made sure we had 3 square meals, snacks and water. I am very proud that we both made hit the summit safely thanks to the great effort and wonderful support by World Adventures Tours people.

Marangu Route with the best crew - Trekking up Mt. Kilimanjaro with my brother and sister supported by the World Adventure Tours climbing team was the experience of a lifetime. We decided to use the 5 day Marangu route as we have some experience. The booking process was a smooth experience that was made easy by the friendliness and professionalism of the reservations team. The climb was not easy but the support of the professional, cheerful, helpful, and encouraging guides coupled with excellent climbing equipment played a big part in the success of our trek. I remember the summit night because it was the most difficult section of the trek and I would not have made it to the summit without the support of Alex my guide and would have missed the wonderful experience of watching the glorious sunrise from the roof of Africa. I recommend World Adventure Tours as they are an amazing company with great equipment and professionals for crew. Closing remarks: Rent the chemical toilet and avoid the fuss at the public toilets!

Amazing Kilimanjaro Marangu Trek - My sister and I recently did the 5 days Kilimanjaro Marangu route with World Adventure Tours. The booking and payment process was smooth without any hitch. When we arrived in Tanzania we found a representative from World Adventure Tours waiting for us at the airport with a huge smile. We were transferred to Springlands hotel where we met with Nteze our chief guide. He briefed us on the climb and also inspected our climbing gear. The next day, we met the rest of the crew; assistant guide Martin, eight porters and Samson our cook. The team was supportive, energetic, cheerful, friendly, and professional. That was the perfect combination for the most enjoyable climb of my life. We were lucky that we did not suffer altitude sickness and succeeded in getting to the Roof of Africa-Uhuru Peak. Samson is a great cook and made us delicious meals up that mountain! We had an epic time with World Adventure Tours and I recommend them with full confidence!

Wonderful service during our Kilimanjaro Trek - My friends and I did a successful Kilimanjaro trek with Wild Adventure Tours. I am very happy with this company for organizing our climb perfectly and giving us an amazing support crew of guides, porters and cook. We arrived in KIA Tanzania at night and Moses our chief guide transferred to the splendid Springlands Hotel in Moshi. The following morning we joined the rest of the crew at Marangu gate after a detailed briefing of the trek and inspection of our climbing gear by Moses. I was very impressed by World Adventure Tours because they take their work very seriously, have invested a lot in their equipment (tents, sleeping bags, medical kit with oxy-meters and emergency oxygen, portable toilet, herbal teas....), their staff are true professionals with many years experience and we got very good food which was prepared fresh! The actual climbing experience was beautiful, done at a reasonable pace, with amazing views and wonderful company. Getting to the summit was a dream come true and truly amazing. I love this company and recommend it for great service and true value
