Amazing tour!! - Charles was an outstanding tour guide who took me to the waterfalls, lunch and around Moshi. Conversation was relaxed and fun, but also informative, with his extensive insight into the country's history. Would highly recommend, if your looking for a tour that goes the extra mile for you.

A fantastic afternoon waterfall hike with Charles! - I met Charles on his Moshi city tour, and was so impressed by his knowledge and easygoing personality that I decided to also do the tour to Materuni with him, and I'm so happy I did! We went on an afternoon, since that's when I had time free on my schedule, and it turned out to be a great time to visit. The morning crowds have thinned out and we had most of the hike/waterfall experience to ourselves. It was also warmer so it doesn't feel cold standing by the falls! The falls itself is beautiful--thundering and visible from afar. Charles took care to lead me on slightly different trails there and back to see different aspects of the falls as well as distant views Moshi town and surrounding areas. In the car and on the hike, Charles chatted with me about the ways of life of the people who live in the surrounding areas, and pointed out many interesting plants and critters along the way. Having grown up nearby, Charles knows all about the area and is truly happy to share that knowledge and experience. I learned so much more about the lives of the people in the region--both in rural and urban areas--than I would have had otherwise. It really feels like hiking with a knowledgable, good friend. As a solo female traveler, I've realized that while there are many decent tour companies and guides out there, this kind of truly great personal interaction is not always a given, and really something to be treasured! Charles runs a great operation--he and his wife (one of the few female safari guides/drivers) also support girl's education and empowerment through their company. Highly recommend!

Amazing day out! - I've done lots of tours over the years in different countries but this was one of the best I've ever done! Charles was an incredible guide, so friendly, accommodating and so knowledgeable about local life/culture and answered all the questions I had with amazing depth and reflection. Really enjoyed the hike through the local village to the waterfall-stunning scenery and Charles was pointing out their crops/explaining how they lived all along the way. The coffee experience was really interesting and the villagers showed us the whole process from bean to cup. We really enjoyed being involved in the process the whole way through and hearing them singing while pounding the coffee/stepping through the process was such a highlight!. We also loved how quiet and simply beautiful the hot springs experience was-minimal tourists around and we loved the swimming plus the rope swing. Again here Charles was happy to watch our stuff while we swam and took videos of us which was really appreciated. Felt like we were having a day out with a friend rather than a formal tour as such (but a local friend who knows everything about the culture!)

Mt Kilimanjaro and coffee tour - This, by far was the BEST tour I've been on! I thought it would be the usual, tour, where they tell you about coffee, you might get to watch them do some processing, the usual. No! I actually got the history, AND got to actually do it! It was such an awesome experience! From grinding, to roasting, cooking the beans, and actually making coffee! I never knew I wanted to do this, but it was great! And the natural beauty of Mt Kilimanjaro, the waterfall - what can I say? An absolutely fabulous tour! I may have to come back to Moshi, just to have them take me on a safari! Trust me, you don't want to miss this, or any of their private tours!!!

Would definitely book again! - Charles went above and beyond to create a memorable experience for our first trip to Moshi! He was very knowledgeable on the culture and sights. We didn’t feel rushed at all when taking photos and spending time near the waterfalls after a very do-able hike. The coffee tour was fun and interactive, and we ended with a Moshi town tour where he even helped facilitate the purchase of a forgotten item! He made us feel instantly at ease, and is clearly passionate about what he does. We are so glad we booked a tour with Safari by Leo!

This tour is an unforgettable and awesome experience in my life! - This trip is guided by Charles from “Safari by Leo” (it’s a family owned safari and cultural tour based (small but beautiful) company owned by Leo and Charles). Our tour guide Charles is book of knowledge. He explained us the history, culture of different tribes in Tanzania especially Chagga tribe who predominantly live at the foothills of Kilimanjaro (by the way,Charles himself from Chagga tribe :)). Actual tour is only Materuni water falls with coffe tour. But Charles loves his job so much and he wanted to give us more experience about Tanzania and he has additionally done guided tour and night life tour of Moshi town. I am quite convinced he is not doing this culture tour for money. It’s his passion to show Tanzania to tourists and explain its history to world! I highly recommend this tour and other cultural tours organised by Charles (Safari by Leo) to all tourists visiting Tanzania! This tour is an unforgettable and awesome experience in my life! I wholeheartedly thank Charles and “Safari by Leo” for their passion and knowledge.

Amazing - It’s a small and very lovely family-company. Charles showed as Materuni including waterfalls, coffee tour and local lunch. Later also we were guided through Moshi town. All of it was amazing. Charles had a lot of knowledge to share and also answered question from our side. Also you could easily conversate, it didn’t feel like being with a guide, but with a friend. I can highly recommend them and hope to see them again very soon!

Exceptional experience - We did the Materuni waterfalls and coffee experience with Charles as our guide and it exceeded all of our expectations. Charles is a great guide, with a lot of patience and that cares for giving the best experiences contributing to local culture. He was caring all the time and even took us to a typical place to have dinner. We definitely recommend him.
