Great Zoo - Very nice zoo, well laid out & many opportunities to be up close & personal with the animals. A nice variety of Australian animals in the s as me location was a treat.

Amazing zoo! Be sure to do the koala experience! - The zoo was outstanding! So impressed with the variety of species of animals, and their interactive and “up close” exhibits, especially with the koalas and kangaroos. The Sumatran tigers were such an unexpected treat as well. As far as zoos go, we rate it as 5 / 5 stars!

The zoo was amazing a... - The zoo was amazing a definite must see. Be prepared to spend a few hours here as there is a lot to see and do. It was also nice that it was a short ferry ride away from one of the main wharfs.

Loved every minute of our visit - We were with our 86 year old mother. We were able to book a wheelchair for her. So glad we did as the area has many hills. There are suggested routes that are handicap accessible. This is truly one of the best zoos I have visited. Loved getting to see the kangaroos and koalas up close. Our mom loved that she could enjoy the day while being wheeled around.

Beautiful - Visited from the UK, thoroughly enjoyed the zoo and all its animals, has some amazing views of Sydney. Arrived by ferry from circular quay and then the bus from.ferry to front of the zoo, so we were able to walk down the hill back to ferry rather than up hill and have to walk back. Food was very nice is the zoo also. Staff were friendly

Tidy zoo with lots to offer - Really nice zoo with lots of animals kept in high end facilities with a focus on conservation. Really nice views back over Sydney too. Well located ferry port at the zoo makes it easy to get to and from Sydney harbour with an Opal card. Free shuttle bus at the zoo then takes you to the main entrance.

Fantastic location but the zoo is very average - The ferry ride to the zoo is $7 on your Opal card, takes about 12 minutes and shows off the spectacular harbour. Once you leave the ferry terminal, you can either take a 5 minute walk to the bottom entrance or take a free shuttle bus to the main entrance, which we did. It is beneficial to get tickets online as there are deals for families and discounts for single adults. Why pay $53 at the zoo when you can buy tickets for $47 online?! It's not the easiest place to get around as there are areas which are quite steep with a few narrow pathways. Our party had a pram which was difficult to manoeuvre in parts. The map is a little confusing as it's not a case of moving along from one section to the next and we found ourselves double-backing on several occasions. The day we went was very warm and some enclosures were bereft of any animals for obvious reasons. The tigers, chimps and others were affected by the heat and looked agitated. The gorillas, elephants and giraffes were by far the highlights of the day. N.B. Elephants are being removed from Taronga and are not coming back. The zoo could really do with a lick of paint and a spruce up as many of the enclosures looked tired, dated and small with worn-out signage. The food hall is a total disaster and needs and urgent upgrade. There is minimal seating and virtually nothing outside. On top of this the food is ridiculously expensive with very limited options. $14 for an egg and lettuce sandwich! The kids farm area was quite well set up but after nearly 5 hours at the zoo, there was little enthusiasm to engage with this part of the venue. I know the zoo does a fair bit for endangered species but when you have an attraction in such an iconic spot, you would think the overall guest experience could and should be much more engaging and inviting. The views of the harbour are spectacular and I would say it's definitely worth a visit but don't expect a riveting experience.

Rather Dissapointing - I was really looking forward to the visit to the zoo but was sadly disappointed. The cable way was not working therefore you had to catch a bus to the top which cost an additional $2. This should have been a free service in my opinion. $2 was overpriced as an example it only costs $1 to catch the light rail in the city. Great view to the city but unfortunately there wasn’t much to see. Vegetation covered the fence where the Ostriches and Zebras were located and you couldn’t see anything. The Australian animals were very limited and not a good representation of our wild life.

Water if time and money - Awful, very hilly, poor signage, only one or two if any animals visible to public. Big disappointment! Waste of money. Would have been better going to a smaller zoo with native animals.
