The central region of Malta is deeply rooted in tradition and history. With its ancient temples, medieval cities, and breathtaking landscapes, it is a window into the island’s affluent history and customs. Through this small-group, adults-only tour, you’ll explore the Mosta Basilica, St. Paul’s Catacombs, and the fortified town of Mdina – renowned for its serene streets and classic ambiance.
Our first stop is the well-known Mosta Basilica, celebrated for owning the third-largest freestanding dome in Europe. Following that, we’ll make our way to St. Paul’s Catacombs, a series of subterranean burial grounds originating from the 3rd century BC. These tombs represent the earliest signs of Christianity in Malta. Be sure to notice the two round stone tables, believed to have been utilized for burial ceremonies, or festivities honouring the deceased.
After completing our exploration, we will stop at a local restaurant for a traditional lunch made with ingredients sourced locally, before ending the day with a guided tour around the fortified city of Mdina.
