• Blagaj tekija - The Tekke (khanqah, dervish monastery), situated at the Buna river’s spring, continues to be a site for the dervish Zikr ritual of praise-chanting, occurring thrice weekly.
  Historically, it stands on the grounds of a former Bogomil holy place, and its past is not thoroughly documented or preserved.
  Archaeological digs have unearthed evidence of a structure from the Late Antiquity period at this spot.
  In the Middle Ages, prior to Ottoman rule, it was already recognized as a significant center of cultural and religious activity (1. VI 1454.). The earliest recorded mention of the Tekke comes from the travel writings of Evlija Celebija in 1664, by which time the Tekke had gained fame across the Ottoman empire and was noted by scholars.

Due to its historical significance and natural surroundings, the “Tekija at the source of the Buna river” or the Tekija in Blagaj is famous around the globe. Initial historical documents identify it as Sari Saltuk’s tomb, a prominent figure in the Ottoman empire known for his legendary stories.

He lived in the late 13th century, and as per legend, he expressed a desire in his will to distribute various coffins to different non-Muslim countries to keep the location of his real body unknown.

The mausoleum of Sari Saltuk in Blagaj, possibly due to its enchanting natural environment, is a frequently visited place by Sufism followers or supporters of Tasawwuf teachings in Islam.
