Highlights

Mostar is the city of contrasts, wide roads, narrow streets, the traditional Kujundziluk (old bazaar) and a contemporary center, a city in which the culture and art of the east and west meet, which have left visible traces that have withstood the test of natural forces and rulers. Next to modernly built edifices there rise the towers of churches and the minarets of mosques. Nonetheless, the most magnificent stone monument is the Stari Most (Old Bridge), built in 1566 according to the plans of Hayruddin, the great Turkish architect of the 16th c. It has a large stone arch and the monument has been entered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Ottoman house or Bišćevića corner, is one of the most beautiful preserved residential structures from the Turkish period. It was built in 1635. Throughout the house one can see original household items whilst the courtyard is a fine example of the Ottoman style. Upon arrival  you will be welcomed  with homemade juice.

Additional Information

Encounter the richness of history in abundant quantities in Mostar, a stone town built upon a solid rock, nestled along the banks of the swift Neretva River, and home of the one of the most stunning canyons in Europe. Its plethora of monuments, largely from the era of Ottoman dominion that reached its westward zenith here, will leave an indelible impression. The blending of this invader with Western influences created a rare melange, a blend of Oriental, Byzantine, and Western civilizations.

The Stari Most (Old Bridge), a testament of beauty in solitude and grace, bends over the Neretva River in a towering arch, hence, referred to as the stone-cast crescent.

Memorable Mostar Experience - Aleci was a fantastic tour guide who provided so much information about the history of not only Mostar, but Bosnia & Herzegovina as a country. Very well spoken and well informed. The stop at the coffee house to learn the difference between Bosnian & Turkish coffee once he learned of our Turkish heritage made my mom's trip. Thank you so much!

Mostar experience - This tour was fantastic and we had a great guide in Ali. We loved all the information Ali told us and he was able to answer all our questions. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and this impressed us. The visit to the 'Turkish' House was fascinating and the explanation about traditional coffee was captivating. Our only request for next time is that Tui inform their guests of the type of footwear needed for this visit.

Funny and knowledgable guide! - We did a walking tour around Mostar as part of a trip we booked on get your guide. Our local guide Al was extremely knowledgable and witty, just what we like! He gave us insightful information about Mostar and the country in general, despite te torrential weather. He brought us to a traditional Turkish house and even showed us how traditional coffee was made and the meaning behind it. He was cracking jokes the whole time which made it that much more enjoyable. I really appreciate the knowledge he had on our own country and the similarities between the divides in Ireland and Bosnia. It’s not often you get guides who know their world geography! Would highly recommend Al and the tour!
