Mostar - The Ancient Bridge as Time’s Testimony

Nestled on the banks of the river Neretva, Mostar stands as the lifeblood of Herzegovina, economically, culturally, academically, and for transit and tourism. The city was established surrounding the historical bridge from the year 1566, situated close to an older suspension bridge. As the iconic emblem of Mostar, the bridge stands as its pulsating heart for numerous generations. The renowned poet and Nobel laureate, Ivo Andrić once penned “…Of all that man constructs and creates, nothing in my opinion, is better or worthier than bridges. They are loftier than houses, more sacred and universal than temples. They cater to all and stand as all’s equal, always existing with a purpose, at the juncture where the greatest number of human needs cross paths. They are more durable than other buildings, and they do not have any hidden or malevolent purpose.” You have free time to dine and unravel the mysteries of the old town, shop in the bazaar, and traverse the aged bridge.
