Additional Information

The Demise of Yugoslavia is a prize-winning journey outlining the creation and dissolution of Yugoslavia. By touring four sites, we delve into Yugoslavia during the Cold War, caught between the atomic weapons of the Warsaw and NATO pacts. We investigate Tito and how his initiatives helped shape an affluent non-aligned nation. We deem the surge of nationalism following the collapse of communism. Lastly, we will experience the Yugoslav War. All of this takes place at thrilling locations, reluctant symbols of a nation that ceased to exist over two decades ago, yet remains alive in the memory of its previous inhabitants.

Hands-on and entertaining learning experience - Fascinating and informative Death of Yugoslavia tour with Miran. Features well-chosen and "off-the-beaten-path" sites around Mostar for appreciating how Yugoslavia emerged, developed, and ultimately collapsed. Miran's storytelling style, full of suspense and supplemented with audio-visual aids that he hand-picked, made the history come to life. Highly recommend.

Don't miss this one! - Excellent tour! If you even have a passing interest in NOT just the death of Yugoslavia but the history of it coming into being, and life itself in Yugoslavia, and eventually it death, this tour is beyond fascinating! Our guide Marin, wow, so passionate and he told the story in such a relatable way. By all means, do the tours to waterfallls and pretty places, but this tour regarding Yugoslavia will leave a lasting memory. Thankyou Marin.

An informative and humbling experience - We couldn’t have asked for a more passionate and dedicated guide. Dario not only supplied us with the context necessary to understand the breakup of Yugoslavia, but also went into detail about the lives and outlook of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian people leading up to these key moments, and offered valuable insight into existing tensions. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and local perspective on the modern history of this country. Thank you!

Our fantastic guide helped us understand the past and the present - Highly educational and objective tour led by our wonderful guide, Mario. As we moved through time, the emotions and thoughts of the people were captured through music as we reach modern times and an uncertain and optimistic future.

The not-so-touristy great tour - The tour is something not to be missed. Our guide (sorry, i’m bad with names) was great! Provided the facts peppered with great humour. Even though the tour was supposed to be 2.5h, in the end we had it for slightly more than 3h, but it did not felt like so. Well done!

Extraordinary experience in Mostar - Death of Yugoslavia tour in Mostar is an extraordinary and unique experience of that famous Crazy Yugoslav Dream from the beginning till the end. You will get first hand information from various places related to the particular phases of Yugoslav history> from the period of Tito s rift with Stalin, through happy decade of 1960s, consumerism of 1970s, declining 1980s till the bloody endgame in 1990s. Everything is completed with music samples from particular periods. If you are interested in history of Yugoslavia, Miran is the go to guy. Unique experience.

Very informative trip with lots of interaction - Miran was an amazing guide! Very enthusiastic and a knowledgable on the local areas and told of his own families experience growing up in Bosnia. Despite the rain which occurred half way through the tour, he still kept up the good spirit and the weather didn’t affect the tour too much. I was the only person on the tour which gave me an added personalised touch due to the tourist season not yet fully starting. Thanks so much for not cancelling my tour and still providing me a very informative experience about the history of Yugoslavia and taking me to an amazing viewpoint to end the tour. Wish the team all the best over the summer!
