A must do when in Tauranga - Recommend highly! We felt so lucky to have chosen this tour. A wonderful introduction to Maori history and traditions. Les was informative and knowledgeable. We booked this as we got off the cruise ship and weren't sure what to expect... It was far better than we even could have hoped. We visited historic battle sites, and had a great new zealand pie, which was delicious. The trip to Rotorua gave us an experience of the countryside and the geothermal area was fascinating. The Maori show made so much more sense after hearing the oral traditions of the Maori from Les. He is a great storyteller. We came back a different way and we were able to see more of the area. The total trip lasted longer than six hoursand was a blast. Can't recommend highly enough! As a note, the cruise ship docks in a highly industrial area. There are a few fun things to do nearby (walk up or around Mt. Maunagui and the houses and beaches nearby), but getting out of the port area is advised if you want much of a taste of the local culture.
