Also, don’t miss the highly-appraised Black History In America exhibition housed in 9 original slave cabins, a tour of the plantation home, an informative tractor tour covering the entire 738-acre estate, and more. Several TV shows and films have been shot in this picturesque setting.

  • Accessibility: All of the grounds are grass or hard compacted sand. Electric wheelchairs or motorized scooters work the best. Please let them know that is what you would like upon being greeted by the tour guide. The brick slave cabins have two to three steps to get inside. However, once inside you will be able to see everything without having to walk too far. The Plantation Tractor Tour has approximately three to four steps to get into it. Gullah GeeChee Life - Excellent depiction of life as a slave and the culture of the gullah Geechee people. Presenter was an actual descendant of the Gullah people. Several slave dwellings onsite all dedicated to the education of the different aspects of slavery through the civil rights movement. The plantation home was beautiful inside but you can only tour the first floor and no pictures allowed. The Oak lined road was breathtaking. Many movies were filled here. There is a tour of the grounds that departs every hour. We missed it and didn’t feel like waiting an entire hour. The grounds tour should be every 1/2 hour so people don’t have to wait. Also there’s a beautiful dock onsite, stables, a gift shop, visitors center, gardens and much more!!

Informative and historic - Amazing experience. I had an all around fantastic experience at Boone Plantation. I did 5% off all the tours offered. They were spaced out timing wise to allow for flexibility which was great. The tours themselves were very informative and the staff were enthusiastic and detail orientated. For the house tour, I had Ron. The tractor tour I had Angus. I had a lovely lady for a talk about the owners of the plantation. She was awesome!

Pleasant few hours - Really enjoyed this plantation and what it is used for now. The Gullah presentation was wonderful. And I like the variety of things to see- the property tour, the stables, the house, and the slave quarters for historical information. Overall, a nice surprise as there are many plantations to choose from.

A good history lesson - My family and I enjoyed the all-inclusive tour of the house and property. The tour guides were knowledgeable. It is so interesting that it’s still a working farm. It was record-breaking heat the day we went, but there were several options on the property to step inside and cool down.

Best time to go is in the fall - We liked that our entrance ticket covered all the tours. The guest services station did a nice job of planning the must-sees for our self-guided tour. We enjoyed the tractor tour around the farm. The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 stars is that the original house was torn down and the building we toured was built in the 1930s. If you’re looking to see a plantation from the 1700s or 1800s, you will be disappointed. Only a few rooms on the first floor of the house were open for the tour. It would’ve been nice to see the kitchen and the upstairs bedrooms. Seems like the best time to go here is in the fall during their harvest days- lots of activities for the kids.
