What’s more fun than a haunted ship—not much! - This was the most unusual and fun tour I’ve ever been on. It was a freezing cold night but comfortable inside the ship. So cool to see and feel one of these marvels of engineering. The ghost stories were fun and interesting and our tour guide was great. I get very seasick and was concerned but our guide told us the ship is moored in 6 feet of mud, it does not move (except a little during hurricanes he told us). Did not see any ghosts but had a great time freaking myself and family out, took a million funny Blair Witch style videos, was a hoot!

Highly recommended - We have visited the USS Yorktown on a couple of other occasions, but this tour was super fun and informative. Tad was a fantastic tour guide he gave us just enough humor mixed with the paranormal and historical information about the ship to keep things fun and interesting. The nighttime view from the flight deck was worth the price of admission. I highly recommend this tour!!

Great date night - Thad was an excellent tour guide! The history of the ship had just enough implications to give you goosebumps but not enough to make it cheesy! Great nighttime views of the bridge from the flight deck! Loved the tour

Floating history in Charleston Harbour - The Yorktown was our number 4 aircraft Carrier Museum, along with the Hornet, Lexington, and Midway. All about the same except for the history. My wife is a aviation buff so exploring history is a little more fun. They do have areas that people with a disability can still enjoy but many are up passage ways, and separated by knee knockers, and if not paying attention to where your walking you'll learn why its called that.
Now they do have a nice snack bar to rest and have a snack and beverage. plenty of videos of the ship's history and other ships that also used its name. You can go up on the flight deck, down to the chain room, sick bay, also the birthing compartments.
On land they have the Viet Nam history building and equipment outside

Bulldog is a Great Tour company. I did 4 tours in a week while traveling to Charleston for the first time. - I'll be brief but please read:
Abstract: Other companies tours were closed in the evening and I wanted to see history. Bulldog Tours provided what others couldn't! You will receive American and local history, and you will receive paranormal history, with great Guides.
1. USS Yorktown tour: "Great tour with Bruce Orr." Bruce had a wealth of knowledge about the ship and its history he incorporated the history i came to hear with the paranormal accounts reported. I'm not sure if i saw any ghosts. I did get a creepy picture that has me interested but I may just be making it up because I want to see it ("buck fever"). I did get a headache and was nautious in a room outside of the officer's quarters. Regardless of ghosts i came to see history and I got exactly what I wanted and surprisingly more than I knew i wanted.
2. 90 minute Dungeon Tour: If Disney's Elsa was a real person she would be Darian. I had a unique experience of getting a historical ghost tour from a Disney Princess (you'll understand when you book your tour with her). Her ability to tell stories is remarkable. TOUR INFO: (15 minute walk to the dungeon) Darian did a fantastic job of sharing the pirate history in the dungeon and allowed us to walk around the area freely (about 20-30 minutes). Walked to 3 other historical buildings that i wasn't expecting (45 minutes). The historical accounts, both local and paranormal, that were told excited me more than the dungeon itself, though the dungeon was far creepier, i had nothing that indicated paranormal. ADVICE: 1. Get Darian 2. Parking is across the street from the business in a private lot that is $7 an hour.
3. (45 minute) Jail tour: Sarah was a great tour guide. Her account of events seemed fantastic but very believable. I personally was genuinely concerned that I would bring a ghost or mollevalent thing home with me. I read several reviews that people were upset about not being able to explore the upstairs, but i have nothing to compare this to. I will say, I left scared, I felt phantom breaths and touching that were probably just air conditioning breezes but Sarah had me concerned enough to make sure I prayed before leaving this place of intense and brutal deaths. ADVICE: Arrive early to get a street parking spot. I was concerned I'd get my car towed and I'd have to walk to my hotel with a ghost buddy. Don't bring your kids, this isn't that kind of tour.
4. (2 hour) USS Yorktown paranormal investigation: Dustin was selfless, humble, and knowledgable. I went in knowing nothing and came out less skeptical. The "tour" was more self guided to allow your own personal investigation. However, i knew nothing. Dustin took the time to explain all the tools, and saw i was overwhelmed and hooked me up. I dont want to say there was a lot of paranormal activity but there was some good and odd conversations and glowing meters, at one point my left hand and left side of my face felt like they were in a freezer. When the cold ceased the hair on my neck stood up. There was no breeze or AC in this area. I caught a clear disembodied voice on my phone that sounded like it said, "seaman."
Ive tried to capture these events as quick and concise as possible. I've never had any intentions of going on a ghost tour, but when your goal is to see history and everything is closed but Bulldog Tours, then you go where things are provided.
I booked 4 tours this week with this company and it was all WELL worth it.

Loved it - Bullldog tours gave us an awesome experience, Bruce Orr was our tour guide and you can tell that he loves his job and telling the stories of the past and the unexplainable while honoring the men who made the ultimate sacrifices and the men who fought so hard for our freedom.. he had pictures that helped the tour go along smoothly and he was fun to talk and joke around with. I would happily go on a Bulldog tour again.

Spooky fun - We stayed at our beach home in nearby Pawleys Island recently, and I wanted to celebrate spooky season. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't enjoy Halloween as much as I do. So if I do a ghost tour for us both, I have to choose one that he will enjoy. Since he is a veteran and likes anything military, I knew the nightime tour of the Yorktown Carrier would be perfect.
Bulldog Tours are the only ones authorized to do the nightime tours aboard the carrier. I have been on several tours with this company and I absolutely love the company. Their tour guides are very knowledgeable and fun. The tours are informative and offer local insights. So far, this and the old jail tour have been my favorites.
On this review, I'll mainly stick to the tour itself, and I will have a separate review on the carrier itself.
We arrived and checked in and waited for our tour to start. We made our way down to the entrance of the ship. Our guide, Dave, gave us a brief overview of the ship and what we could expect on this tour. The ship was commissioned and decommissioned several times and served in serval wars. Today, it serves as a floating museum.
Like all Bulldog guides, Dave is a terrific guide. He is very knowledgeable but knows how to keep your attention and gives you some laughs at the same time. We start at the lower part of the ship that is open to the public ( you can explore lower levels if you're touring during the day on a self guided tour) and make our way to the carrier deck. We make our way learning about life abroad the ship. We visit the sick bay, the sleeping quarters, the hanger deck, and finally, the carrier deck. When you make it to the hanger deck, you realize how big this ship is when you see how many planes are on display. The carrier deck gives you an added bonus with stunning views of the river and bridge.
Given all the tradegy that happened on the ship, it makes sense that spirits would still be lingering. There is one room we went into that doesn't have power. When the Ghost Hunters investigated this room, they noticed lots of activity. In this room, I felt the same heaviness on my chest that I felt at the old jail tour. As soon as Dave finished talking, I waited for our group in the hall! This is a favorite for paranormal investigators. On season 8 episode 10 of Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures season 4 episode 21, both shows investigated the carrier and believe it to be haunted. That is talked about on the tour.
Dave was a fantastic guide! The tour was incredible, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Everyone on our tour seemed to enjoy it. A portion of their sales go to the foundation to help maintain the carrier for generations to come. I also suggest looking at the other tours offered by Bulldog Tours. They also have a haunted tour of the old city jail that is fun. The carrier itself is partially accessible. There are elevators for those with mobility issues. If you need accommodations, I would check with the company before you buy tickets. There is a gift shop on the premises but you will need to shop earlier in the day for souvenirs. The gift shop and bathrooms are in a separate building and do not require admission. They do have paid parking. They are located close to the Shem Creek section that offers plenty of waterside dining. My personal recommendation is Pages Okra Grill, which is about 10 minutes away.
I definitely recommend Dave, Bulldog Tours, and the Yorktown Carrier for a night of spooky fun!

Excellent! - Great experience, the tour guide was engaging and knowledgeable, providing both military history and how that tied into to some of the ship's paranormal activity.

USS YORKTOWN GHOSTS TOUR - Ken was a wonderful guide and was very knowledgeable about the history of the ship. I would definitely recommend this tour with him. Although we did not experience any supernatural events the tour was great.
