Visiting Mount Vernon - The guided tour was good, I was disappointed that most of the house was closed nut that's understandable.

Visit Mt. Vernon! - Worth the drive and money! Excellent history experience. It will be even better when the restoration work is done and the entire home is open for tours. The staff are amazing!!

Fantastic experience - This was a fantastic tour I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going. So much to see there and no problem to spend several hours there so much to see and feel part of this amazing history.

Ticket time is Line time not tour time - ***the mansion ticket time is the time you get in line….NOT the mansion tour time… The tour was fantastic but it’s probably 30 minutes in line to enter the mansion. Our tickets were at 11:30am…we entered the mansion @noon. the line is very well organized. They call the times out and check your name off the list.

Well worth doing - We prebooked the grounds ticket and mansion tour. A lot of grounds to explore, well labelled with plenty of information. The mansion house tour was well done, with different guides as you went round. They were rather too close together, the tour behind us kept catching us up which meant we couldn’t necessarily ask all the questions we might have wanted to. The guides themselves were very knowledgeable. Altogether very interesting and we learned a lot. Unfortunately for us they’re doing a lot of renovations on the mansion itself so the photos weren’t wonderful and also the weather was misty over the river. However we did get a good idea of how lovely it must be in the sunshine! Before you prebook, do look for discount codes.

On the veranda you feel like GW - The property is very large and the main house very impressive. Sitting on the porch and looking over the Potomac, you feel a little like GW 250 years ago. The tour of the house was interesting. Unfortunately, not all rooms were open. Definitely worth a detour

A bit disappointing - I think this is rather expensive for what you actually see. I really felt I did not learn much about George Washington because the focus of every exhibit where the staff was telling the history was focused on enslaved peoples. I understand that is part of the history but not the entire story.

Reduce the price please... - Very disappointed. Found out only one room in the house was open to see AFTER paying full price admission. No notice at the entrance. No prominent notice on the website. To be fair, the admission price should be reduced a bit since the highlight of the tour isn't accessible.

Somewhat disappointing - I know the history surrounding General Washington and I knew what to expect when I purchased the tickets. I was very disappointed when we were told that most of the mansion is closed to visitors and even more disappointed when I found out that the key to the Bastille, one of the most emblematic artifact of the estate, and one that I wanted to see, is located in a closed section and therefore, is hidden to visitors. These important pieces of information should be disclosed in advance of purchase.

Disappointing “tour” - Very disappointing Mansion “tour” was 2 of the 20+ rooms due to construction, and still charging full priced. We paid over $150 for 6 family members to “tour” the mansion, and it really was a let down to not have any additional supplements to the tour offered and still charged full price.
