ice climbing is a sport/ activity that let you climb vertical ice walls and explore places you never thought existed.

Our guides will also show you the wonders of the glacier, such as crevasses and moulins.

What is a crevasse and moulins?
crevasse is a crack on the glacier that is created by movement of the glacier.
Moulins are water tunnel that goes vertical in to the glacier.

Awesome! - Our guide was awesome! So glad we did the small group. We got a totally different and way better experience than had we gone in a large group!

Fantastic company, guide, & experience - Choose this company to meet awesome local guides and avoid the huge tour group sizes. I booked a very last minute tour with North Ice the night before the scheduled tour (probably better if you book in advance, but my travel plans had suddenly changed). The company was insanely responsive and super accommodating in helping me schedule a private session. They actually contacted me late outside their regular hours to arrange this and made the helpful suggestion to start earlier than their standard time to maximize the day. Above and beyond communication & customer service—way exceeded expectations. The tour itself was fantastic. I did a private ice climbing tour with Bergur and he was super friendly, fun, knowledgeable, and overall a great guide who found climbs that would be fun for me as I’d done a bit of ice climbing before. I was able to do about 6 laps in the 4 hr time and explore the glacier a bit. You won’t regret booking a tour with this company! Worth every penny and the highlight of my trip. Huge thanks to North Ice Expeditions and Bergur for such an amazing experience.

High recommended! - Our tour guide, Bergur, is super! When I called him to make sure I parked at the correct spot, he answered my phone immediately. He's really patient with us, who were sort of beginners. He's also very knowledgeable about the area and the ice climbing. We did the ice climbing at two different places, the first one was easier and helped us warm up. The second one was steeper and more difficult. Bergur did a nice job to help us climb up. This tour is more fun than other ice walking tours. High recommended!

Perfect Day - Breathtaking views! And our guide was amazing. He was knowledgeable about ice climbing but also Icelandic and Viking history. He was a patient teacher since this was our first time ice climbing. He seemed to catch in quickly to everyone’s ability and was very accommodating.

Awesome Ice Climbing - Did the ice climbing tour with Bergur and had an awesome time! He was super friendly and informative about everything! It rained at the end, which was the only downfall, bit definitely would do again (and bring rain gear)

Iceland Highlight - We are a couple from the U.S. and had an amazing time with our guide. After a week in Iceland this was a highlight of our trip. We felt very safe while hiking and climbing on the glacier. This is a moderately strenuous activity between the hiking and climbing. It was all very approachable and our guide helped us the entire way through. Not only did we learn a new skill (ice climbing) we learned more about glaciers and the natural resources of Iceland. 10/10 would recommend.

Nice experience - Very great tour. Walk for a while on the glacier with the introduction then we start to ice climbing. The climbing time and location are based on everyone’s stamina and will. Very fun and exciting.

Terrible experience - One sentence, we did not participate in the event and did not get a refund. We were 20 minutes early that day and navigated to our destination based on the address shown in the picture but did not find the operator, in fact this address took us to Vik. so I contacted Vaitor for the operator phone number and tried to contact with them, they gave me a phone number but that phone number was wrong. I had to send a message online to the operator to wait for a response. It also wasted some times. When the vendor responded with my phone number, it was already very close to the start of the event, and I realized the address on the website could not take me to the meeting point. At that time I told the operator it could take me half an hour to get to the correct address, the operator said they couldn't wait for me, I understood that and asked if they could arrange a refund, they said yes and would email me back. However I did not recieve the email and I contacted Vaitor again, Vaitor told me I could not get a refund. I understand that I did in fact fail to arrive at the location by the specified time. I have reflected on the whole thing, but I did search for the address on the web page, not realizing that it was inaccurate, and also arrived 20 minutes early, and I don't think I am the only one at fault here. All in all it was a very bad experience.

No communication or glacier hiking - To my knowledge, the tour guide/North Ice, never showed up. I was in the parking lot for 30 minutes prior to the meeting time and stayed an extra 30 minutes after just in case. I asked multiple companies if they had heard of North Ice and none of them knew of them. I attempted to call, but the number was not operational. No response via messaging on Viator, where I booked. I was refunded, but still extremely disappointed because it was meant to be a final splurge to experience a glacier hike on my last day in Iceland. I still have not heard anything directly from the touring company, only a confirmation of my refund request.
