Highlights

Moshi – Machame Gate (1790 m) – Machame Camp (3020 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at the airport and taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate to begin your climb. Upon arrival, your guide will handle the entrance formalities while you watch the various teams and mountain crew prepare for their expeditions. It’s always fascinating to see them load all the gear for the trip. Once everything is ready, your adventure will commence. Today’s goal is to reach Machame Camp, which should take about 5 – 6 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through a stunning rainforest with ancient trees, primeval ferns, liana, and lichen, among other flora. Keep an eye out for the black and white thumbless colobus monkeys. Upon reaching your campsite for the night, you’ll have time to relax before enjoying a well-deserved dinner prepared by our cook.

Machame Camp (3020 m) – Shira Camp (3845 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - Although today’s trek is shorter than yesterday’s, you’ll still start early, allowing you to reach your destination by mid-afternoon. The landscape will change dramatically from lush rainforest to moor and heathland. From your campsite on the Shira Plateau, you’ll have a beautiful view of the mountain range. As the sun sets, the glacier of Kibo will also light up.

Shira Camp (3845 m) – Lava Tower Hut (4640 m) – Barranco Camp (3960 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - Today is ideal for acclimatizing for the days ahead. You’ll climb roughly 700 m but will sleep at a similar elevation to the previous night. Starting at Shira Plateau, you’ll ascend to Lava Tower at around 4640 m. After a rest, you’ll continue through the Barranco Valley to reach the beautiful Barranco Camp. Today’s trek will take approximately 6 – 7 hours, during which you’ll experience the alpine desert and the Barranco Valley with its small lobelia plants and giant senecios. After a well-deserved dinner, you’ll rest in preparation for the next day.

Barranco Camp (3960 m) – Karanga Camp (4035 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, you’ll tackle the famous Barranco Wall. You might need to use your hands occasionally for better grip, but there are no climbing passages. Safety is paramount, so please listen to our guides who will ensure you reach the top safely. Today involves a lot of ascents and descents, followed by a walk along the mountain ridge, offering a great view of the Kibo glacier. Today’s walking time is 3 – 4 hours, with the Kibo summit always on your left as you make your way to your camp for the night.

Karanga Camp (4035 m) – Barafu Camp (4640 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - Today’s destination is Barafu Camp, which you’ll reach after 3-4 hours of walking through the moon-like alpine desert. After a satisfying dinner, you’ll have an early night and a good rest. The highlight of your trip is now just hours away.

Barafu Camp (4640 m) – Uhuru Peak (5895 m) – Mweka Camp (3080 m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - The climb starts at midnight. You’ll be woken up just before to have some tea and biscuits. After 5 – 7 hours, you’ll reach Stella Point, the crater rim of Kilimanjaro. Another 1 – 2 hours will bring you to Uhuru Peak at 5895 m. Standing on top of Africa’s highest mountain and watching the sunrise is a truly magnificent sight. This view will be unforgettable and will make every minute of the trek worthwhile. You’ll descend the same way back to Barafu Camp, which you’ll reach after 1 – 2 hours. The rest of the mountain team will be waiting with well-deserved snacks and refreshments. After resting for an hour or two, you’ll head to Mweka Camp for your last night on the mountain.

Mweka Camp (3080 m) – Mweka Gate (1630 m) – Moshi

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, you’ll have a traditional farewell ceremony with your mountain crew. A short 2 – 3 hour walk through the rainforest will bring you to the Mweka gate, where our driver will be waiting. You’ll then be transferred back to your hotel for a well-deserved shower, a cold drink, a debrief, and the awarding of your certificate of achievement. The rest of the day is yours to relax and reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Great guides for Kilimanjaro - Such a memorable experience! The entire team at Nyange Adventures were so nice and helpful. I was referred to them by a friend and I'm so glad I chose them to help me get to the top of Kilimanjaro! Amnaay was our guide and he did a great job along with the rest of the team. I will definitely visit them again for another trip.

Mount Kilimanjaro Machame Route with Nyange Adventures - Had a fantastic experience with Nyange Adventures climbing Mount Kilimanjaro’s Machame route. Had a pre climb briefing to check equipment and to meet my guide Antipas. Hired sleeping bag to save bringing from the UK. Team of eight supported me on a solo climb. They were all fantastic. Had some good laughs. Had trouble eating the amount of food they try to feed you; three meals a day with three courses! Summited in six days rather than the intended seven due to feeling good and no altitude sickness. Whole experience was first class. Should have booked a Safari at the end of the climb.

Kilimanjaro hike review - Machame trail - We hiked the Machame trail with Nyange Adventures and had a once in a lifetime experience. Our team was AMAZING and created a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Our guides Mo and Amnaay were the perfect pair to lead us to the summit. They were attentive, took care of us, had our safety in mind always, and truly made my experience a positive one in the setting of having personal health issues at the beginning. I would not have made it to the top without this team!!! Everyone that was a part of the team, including all the porters, worked so hard and joyfully to make our experience a positive one. The food also was great, and you will not be underfed if that’s one of your worries while hiking. Overall, we would recommend Nyange Adventures for anyone who is interested in hiking Kilimanjaro. They are also part of the KPAP group so you know porters and staff will be treated fairly.

Amazing experience! - The whole experience with Nyange was seamless, from the sales coordinator Amina answering all of our questions for months on end, to the wonderful guides (Antipas and Robert) who pushed us just the right amount to get our group to the summit, to the porters and rest of the crew for doing all the tough work it takes to get 5 people to the top of the mountain. They really take care of everything so that you have the best chance to summit, and we will always be grateful for how they took care of us. We also did a 6 day private safari after the Kili trek (with Rogers), and that was an amazing experience as well. We drove all the way up to North Serengeti and saw all of the Big 5 by the end of the trip. Rogers got some cool pics of a rhino for us through our binoculars on the last day. He also drove us almost 12 hours one day so we could see multiple crossings of the wildebeests. We had a blast, and would definitely go with Nyange again if we came back.

Exceptional Kili climb and safari with Nyange - My friends and I had a great experience with Nyange adventures. We did the 7-day Machame route and a 6-day safari directly after (permanent tented camping option) . Even before the trip, Praise Nyange and his office were very helpful in discussing trip options and plans. For our Kili climb, we had great guides in Antipas and Mussa, and an exceptional team of porters/cooks (S/O to Gerald). Our guides checked our blood oxygen levels every night to make sure we were doing OK. The food was amazing, and you could tell that everyone put in their best effort to ensure we had a good time and were able to summit. We rented a portable toilet, which I would highly recommend. Our whole group successfully summited. For the safari, we had an amazing great safari guide in Rogers. He was willing to start our day as early as we were ready (we're early birds), and was willing to go for as late as we wanted. This meant we often had 12 hour days (6am-6pm) to maximize what we saw. Notably, we were able to see all of the big 5, a few cheetahs, and multiple wildebeest river crossings.

Nyange Adventures blew our expectations and touched our hearts! - From the moment we were picked up from the airport to our last goodbye at drop off we were welcomed into a family. The community oriented approach to the company was executed on every level. It became clear pretty fast that our success climbing Kilimanjaro was not just important to the porters, guides, and cook but was their success as well. We were welcomed with open arms by every member of the company including Praise, the director. A special thanks to our guides Amnaay and Mohammed that were the perfect balance of challenge and support, laughter and kindness, through out the entire experience. I will forever cherish all the incredible people I met in Tanzania and their collectivistic ways of working as a team :)

Feeling like a top Athlete with your own supporting team - We chose to do the Machame route 6 days climb with Nyange Adventures. They arranged it for us from one day to the other, when we arrived in Moshi We went with Amnaay and Musa as our guides, and they made a fantastic job supporting us all the way The food by Zacarias was excellent and it was fantastic how the porters put up the tent for lunch, which we enjoyed relaxed in hide from the wind The whole crew were very hard working, disciplined and dedicated. Our guides saw to our health by daily checkups. We were urged to eat, drink and sleep enough. When the night came for the final ascent, we were well prepared and managed to go all the way to the top When coming back the crew where ready for celebrating This company gets my best recommendations

Successful Kili crew (7 day Machame) thanks to fabulous Nyange crew - We had an amazing time and climbed Kili with ease thanks to the greatest crew imaginable! Our guide Satorine with his more than 20 years of experience brought us up the mountain right on time for the sunrise. Over the days he checked us continuously and knew exactly our pace, how much we would be able to do during which amount of time and was supportive throughout! Together with Toidy, our funny, attentive and simply great assistant guide, we could not have asked for a better team of guides. Our great cook Anderson took care of a high quality (and calorie :D) and very tasty changing menu every day and together with our funny, amazing and kind waiter Benson (also a guide during other tours), we were treated to everything from morning until night time. The crew of our private tour of 2 consisted of 7 more amazing individuals helping us for every step - from James our camping master, who fixed our zipper when it got stuck due to the dust on the mountain and welcomed us to get rid of our dust every day - to Mogereja, our porter who did not only carry all our stuff but walked towards us on several occasions (and our summit descend!) to help and motivate us with his beautiful singing, to our other crew members Matthew, Goodluck, Joseph, Juma, Seleman - who carried out many kilograms of tents, food, water, etc. Asante Sana to these 11 unique individuals who truly made this one of the best experiences of our lives! If you want to support a small, local company with fabulous crews: Nyange is a great choice! For future hikers a few tips: - Reconfirm your arrival times at the airport with you contact person - ask in advance about the tipping ceremony and recommended minimum (which is really the minimum!) tips to the crew - reconfirm extra requests at arrival (eg if you want to go to Kosovo camp)

Mt Kilimanjaro Climb - tough but interesting - The experience of this hiking is wonderful. All staff have sincerely provided good support during the trip. The most unforgettable experience is the hiking towards the summit at 1130pm, tough and cold but a very good experience. Out team managed to reach the summit before the sunrise. See the sunrise after hiking for a whole night, you feel that the effort made last night is worthwhile. Expecting some snow at the top, unfortunately, there is none that night.
