Very prompt and extremely professional. Ease of booking and payment process was too good. We were absolutely sure that they will - We booked our tour of Chiang rai a day earlier. The response was fabulous and pronto. We were instantly connected to the local tour operator Yada travels

Perfect excursion from Chiang Mai. - Chiang Rai is about 3:30 hours from Chiang Mai. The road was damaged a few months ago so it was a long trip...but really worthwhile. The White and Blue Temples are just spectacular. The Black House is just curious/original but under the Temples as far as relevance is concerned. The driver / guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Also we took us to a nice place for lunch. He seemed to press us to finish every visit...maybe he was thinking about the long drive back to Chiang Mai. And he was right as it rained as if there was no tomorrow on the way back which made it harder for him. Perfect day out...the excursion is worth the money. Although i hear that it would have been much cheaper if booked locally....but it's not time to think about this :-)

Private tour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai - I booked a private tour for me and my boyfriend to Chiang Rai. We wanted to visit the white temple, black house, Karen long neck village and go to a waterfall back in Chiang Mai. The tour company was very accommodating and had a quick response time when I was emailing them from home. They required a 50% deposit via PayPal. And then I paid cash on the day of to the tour guide. Our guide was Mr. Ong who picked us up in a spacious van with a cooler full of ice water. He spoke English fluently and told us about the history of Chiang Rai, symbolism at the white temple and black house, brought us to a buffet lunch, and answered all our questions. It was a very educational tour and i would highly recommend this tour company. The cost per person includes all admission fees, lunch, and travel insurance.

Chiang Rai Day Tour From Chiang Mai - The journey from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai took approximately 4 hours. On the way to Chiang Rai, we had a short stop at a hot spring park for tea and toilet break. There are many food and souvenirs shops. After the stop we continue to visit the White Temple. It’s beautiful. The area is quite big. We were allowed to go into the temple but taking pictures was not allowed. Before proceeded to visit the Blue Temple, we had our lunch at a nearby restaurant. Food was average. Not tasty. The Blue Temple is not far from the White Temple. It’s smaller. Inside the temple, there were many paintings about the life of Buddha. The temple is beautiful too. I prefer the White temple more. Next stop is the Baan Daam or Black house where it kept many items made of animals. It’s something like a taxidermy. Personally, I don’t really enjoy the Black house since there’s nothing much to see. The area is big but most of the items were the same. There were crocodiles, furniture made of buffaloes’ bones amongst others. Our last stop was the Long Neck village which I enjoyed very much. We met with several ladies with long neck. They were previously from Burma. They put on heavy metal around their neck until the shoulder lowered down and that made the neck appeared longer. It was understood that they started wearing the metal around their neck at the age of 5 years. Previously it was made of gold, today it’s made of bronze. The metal weigh around 3 kg. The people made souvenirs to support their daily needs. It was really a long day but an enjoyable tour. The visit to the long neck village was one I enjoyed the most.

Great tour and excellent guide... -
Great tour and excellent guide! Ours ended up being a private tour as we were the only two people, and while it was a very early day it was a spectacular one. The temples were stunning, especially the Blue temple! The tea plantation was picturesque and serene, pretty much what you would expect a tea plantation to be like. Our guide, was prompt, informative and very accommodating.

The only downside to this trip is that Chiang Rai, being so far away from Chiang Mai 2.5 - 3hr drive, there is too much time spent travelling and not enough time at the sites. It felt like a rush to go from one site to the next in order to get them all seen and back to Chiang Mai at a decent time. I would suggest doing an overnight at Chiang Rai if you really want to take your time to explore.

A FRAUD - A fraud! I arrange via email a tour to chaing rai to see the temples in a day. They said me a voucher as confirmation and said me to pay by cash the driver because they weren’t able to provide me the right link to pay on paypal. On the day of the pick up they didn’t show up on time and I started trying to contact them. They first said they were coming and asking for the tour confirmation. I sent them the voucher and they said it the tour was NOT confirmed (even if I had the voucher in my hands!!!!!!). They said me to either pay a private tour with them istead (far more expensive) or do the tour by our own. In any case they didn’t want to come, SO DON’T BOOK WITH THEM, THERE ARE MANY OTHER RELIABLE TOUR OPERATORS IN CHAING MAI!

Lovely places, bad tour - We booked the trip without an Optional Karen Long Neck tour, however the tour agent decided to group us with 2 people who had this tour. This means that we either had to wait for 30 minutes for the others to finish their tour or we had to buy the tour with them. Total scam. Secondly, the driver and the car are horrible. I am not even joking when I say that the 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai was done using the Van's 1st and 2nd gear. For some reason the driver kept pressing and releasing the gas pedal every 5 seconds. So you can imagine what a horrible 6 hour car ride we had. Finally, the guide was abysmall at best. I really loved the places, but I would recommend everyone get a private car trip and avoid this company

Misleading 14 hour group tour - I wanted to write a positive review, but I'm sorry there were just too many things that dragged the tour down. If you're thinking about booking a group tour, I would think twice. Perhaps this company would excel in their private tours instead. We were supposed to get picked up for our "A Day at White Temple and Black House" 7am and get dropped off back at our hotel at 5pm. This is did not happen. After getting up at 5:30am to have sufficient time to get ready and eat breakfast, the tour driver was late by approximately an hour and 15 mins, only picking us up at 8:30am after several calls asking where he was. This would be all okay if the tour ran on schedule. We originally booked this shorter tour so we would not be as tired and would have the time to check out the Night Bazar and other sights in Chiang Mai, but we only got home at 9:30pm feeling extremely exhausted. I understand some Chiang Rai tours run for 14 hours but this was not one I had booked, as I was under the impression we would be back at 5pm. I was not mentally nor physically prepared for such a long day. On the original itinerary of the tour I had booked was White Temple and Black House. On the actual day of the tour, we visited another temple and a long neck village (which was not part of the tour description), so naturally the tour's run time went way beyond what we had anticipated. The most disappointing thing about this tour was that it wasn't even run by Chiang Mai Local Tours themselves. After doing hours of extensive research of which tour company I should book with before coming to Chiang Mai, I chose CMLT because of their positive reviews on Tripadvisor. However, on the day of the tour, I learnt that they were using a third party tour operator - JJ Travel - a completely different company to run the tour. I wouldn't have minded if that was made clearer to me prior to booking, but I felt blindsided that I had booked with one company and ended up being picked up by a completely different company. What they do is basically sell seats to generic tours run by third parties (such as the one run by JJ Travel) - so the people on your tour would have booked from several different tour agents as you and booked it at varying prices. This was another thing that annoyed us. We paid 1290THB for our trip, while others paid as low as 850THB (around $14USD difference). Not a huge difference of course, but if we are all on the same tour, why are we paying different prices? Lunch was not great. It was served cold and was not very good quality wise, but to be honest that was the least of our problems on the day. We were crammed in the back of a van and going through a long 14-hour day, it was hard to get any rest whatsoever because we were so crammed and felt every turn or bump the driver encountered. By the end of it, I felt quite car sick. Despite all this, the attractions we saw on the day were nice, and the JJ Travel staff were nice and friendly. We met other awesome travellers on the minivan too. I am truly sorry to have to write such a negative review, as I did not want to and had high hoped for this tour to see the beautiful White Temple. But perhaps you could use this to improve further tours and change a few things. From what I understand, this company is good for private tours but not for group tours, as they do not run their own tours, so you are left in the hands of a random tour company you haven't vetted or researched on online. Again, if you're thinking about booking a group tour, I would really think about it and only book if it was absolutely necessary.
