Occupying the northernmost part of Thailand, Chiang Rai is a tranquil provincial city exuding a charming atmosphere. Compared to its sibling city, Chiang Mai, it carries a more calm, natural aura, while still being rich in history and culture. Experience the best of Chiang Rai in two days. Start on Day 1 at 08.00 am, with pick up from your hotel in Chiang Mai and drive to Chiang Rai. Take a boat ride on the Maekok River to Bann Ruammit, offering travellers a breathtaking journey through forest-clad slopes and villages (Approximately 40 minutes). The day ends at Wat Huey Pla Kung, notable for Chiang Rai’s Big Buddha – a large white statue which is actually a depiction of the Goddess of Mercy. On Day 2, visit the Golden Triangle where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge; the Opium Museum; White Temple; Blue Temple and Hot Spring, before heading back to Chiang Mai. Optional: Visit the Doi Tung royal villa for 600 B./Person, including fees and tickets. Direct payment to guide is required.
