• Azizi Life - Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the craftsmen and receive an introduction to the history of Imigongo Art. Then, you’ll begin crafting your piece by preparing the base with a blend of soil and bovine excrement!

When it’s time for lunch, you’ll enjoy a modest meal with your artisan instructor, with ample opportunity for conversation and cultural exchange. Post-lunch, you’ll return to your artwork, focusing on smoothing and coloring it. Spending time with the artisan is delightful, and it’s guaranteed that your collaboration will be filled with shared laughter.

The day concludes with a refreshing Fanta as you reflect on the day’s memorable moments and perhaps do a bit of shopping for keepsakes in the ethical trade boutique.

Years ago in the time of the Rwandan Kings, there once was a prince who decided to decorate his house by molding geometric shapes onto the wall of his hut using cow dung. In time, this technique was developed into a popular form of traditional Rwandan art called
Imigongo.
During your Experience, you will learn the history and technique of Imigongo art and then make your own piece to take away with you.
