Getting to know Dharavi up close - Our local Guide Abhishek gave us a chance to get to know Dharavi and the people who live there up close. He answered all our endless questions and showed us how you can live in such an amazing place. Dhanyawad!

Who jumps daravi, loses the beating heart of Mumbai and Abhishek proved it! - There are no words to describe the hours spent together with Abhishek. We met in a place easily accessible by metro, he explained some things in his perfect English (self-taught!) before entering the heart of Mumbai, Daravi. The tour was divided into two parts, first the industrial area where people work for the slum and outside, then the residential part. Abhishek answers all your questions, but there will be very few because he will be exhaustive in every facet, explaining even the most futile things. The most exciting part was getting into the residential area where you get into the live and really understand what conditions you live in a slum... you can’t imagine but you feel even for a while what they feel. It is a sightseeing tour of course but I did not feel like doing the “usual tour”: it was exciting, interesting and I will never forget it. Those who jump daravi, lose the beating heart of Mumbai and I think Abhishek showed us that better than anyone. Thank you!

Best Guide in Mumbai - While this was a difficult place to visit it was a great addition to our touring in Mumbai. Our guide Anthony was excellent, one of the best guides we have had. He was knowledgeable, dependable and helpful. He knew and understood the working of Dharavi. If you book this tour ask for Anthony!

Probably the best tour I did - I’m currently travelling a lot of places and I can tell you that this tour was the best I’ve ever had. Abishek has been very interesting and interested showing us everything. We went through the factories and residential area. Passing by the narrowest streets I’ve ever seen. Always in good security thanks to our guide. Also Abishek knows lots of people there and made us feel really welcome. We could see the factories and businesses, very enlightening for a European guy. I’m very grateful that I had this opportunity with such a good guide. He was amazed that people coming from really far would get curious to come. Do not ever hesitate to book this tour.

A must-see in Mumbai - It was a very interesting tour - even though we, like many of you, had concerns about going into a slum as tourists. Our guide came from the slum and knew the area very well. He gave us clear instructions about taking photos etc. And: we were never begged for anything, we always met friendly people.... I can highly recommend Mukesh, our driver, and his brother, our guide!!!

I was so lucky to take this tour! - I wanted to spend an half day in Mumbai, while I was waiting for a flight in the evening. So, I initially booked a tour to visit Elephanta Cave, but it needed to be canceled due to the visit of the President Modi to Mumbai. Instead, the tour operator offered me to join this tour, and I agreed. The tour was led by the two guides, Raj and Abhishek. They were professional yet very friendly and I really enjoyed their company. In this tour, they let me witness the real life of the people living in the slum. The word “slum” is generally used in a negative context, but Indian slum is different. People in the slum actually are living positively and happily. After all, I thought I was lucky to have an opportunity to this tour, due to the unexpected cancelation of the initial plan.
