Walk and talk Mumbai heritage 🇮🇳 - This heritage walk was an insight into the settlement of Bombay and how the islands were reclaimed and established. Our guide Krishna Javeri was a 'Dream Guide' Krishna was very personable and knowledgeable. I was born in Mumbai many moons ago and it was valuable tour experience for me personally. It was great not to be in group as well. Just the two of us with our guide.

Shockingly Terrible Experience! - If I could give this tour zero stars, I would—but I have to provide it with at least one star to write a review. I have done walking tours worldwide; this was by far the worst, a monumental waste of money. Let's start with the "walking" part because that was all we did. The guide provided no substantive information about the history or heritage of the various landmarks. By the end, I wasn't sure if I had signed up for a heritage walking tour or a tour where the guide walked us around south Mumbai. Now, the "tour" part. Imagine if Google Maps tried to narrate history while only reading the first line of the landmark's Wikipedia page. Our guide enthusiastically pointed out fascinating landmarks but failed to provide any historical background. For example, he would point at a building and say - "This was built in 1800 by the British" (duh!) The guide truly excelled at turning curiosity into confusion. They kept asking us if we had any questions, my guy: if you don't explain any historical significance of a landmark, we won't have any questions! Another example: "This building is the High Court of Mumbai, built in the 1800s." Ok, and? What was it before? Were there any important trials? Any critical historical events? Nothing? Sir, this is a landmark, not a speed-dating introduction. And don't even get me started on the Bollywood trivia. "Many European scenes from famous Bollywood films were shot here!" they said enthusiastically, only to struggle to name even one. Was I supposed to Google it myself mid-tour? And the pièce de résistance? The "surprise" stop at a gift shop because "every tourist always requests it." I'm here for the heritage tour, not to buy overpriced souvenirs. Instead, we began our cultural journey by stopping at the souvenir shop with expensive pashminas. Who knew capitalism was the real historical treasure? If you're looking for a tour to get your steps in while learning absolutely nothing, this is your ticket. Just bring comfortable shoes, low expectations, and maybe read a guidebook because the tour guide for sure didn't read one.
