Excellent Experience - Wonderful trip, wonderful tour, and wonderful tour guide, Ursula! We were not able to see Eagle's Nest because of early snow which closed the roads, we it was well worth the tour anyways. We saw the remains of Hitler's Berghof and got quite the history lesson there, then toured the Documentation Center which includes part of Hitler's elaborate bunker system underground, then toured a salt-mine which has been in operation for over 500 years. The whole day was incredibly interesting and educational with stunning scenery and views along the way and in Berchtesgaden. Our guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer lots of questions. Also, the bus was very comfortable and accommodating.

Don't be salty if you can't see Eagles Nest. - Though our trip was unable to see eagles nest due to road closures the other features of associated with olbersalzberg, the salt mines and infrastructure from WWII were astounding.

Fall views in Germany - The views were amazing but we were disappointed that our tour to Eagles nest was cancelled due to weather. The company did a fantastic job with an alternatives tour to the Salt Mines which surprisedly was very fun!

Salt Mines - Goodtimes, beautiful region, and pleasant guide. The salt mines require a little physical agility that some of the patrons barely had. This should be noted.

Not Eagle's Nest Tour - The tour we experienced was good. However, we were very disappointed in the tour operator. They were aware days in advance that Eagles Nest was going to be close due to snow from the prior week and they did not communicate this in advance to participants. Several of us were disappointed to learn the morning of the tour (too late to cancel for refund) when the weather was a clear blue sky and bright sunshine. Additionally, there were 61 participants which is more than the stated maximum 48 participants. The description should be updated! Or Operator provide promised services.

Information overload and too little time - Wasn’t impressed with the tour, it was a two hour drive from Munich to the Eagles nest and the tour guide was talking the entire time there then played a movie on the return. I appreciate they wanted to make sure we got our money’s worth but could’ve used some moments of silence. Also, there was a huge sticker covering the bus window so we couldn’t see any of the sights being pointed out anyway. The eagles nest was fine, but didn’t have enough time to explore the museums and bunkers which would have been more interesting. All in all I think it’s better to take the train there and go at your own pace so you have all the time you need.

Eagles Nest was closed so... - Eagles Nest was closed so really impacted overall experience. Substituting the salt mines as adder do not make up for disappointment. We do understand that weather and conditions are out of anyone’s hands.

Very disappointed. - This was a terrible experience. Viator knew that snow fell over a week before the tour and yet made no attempts to contact us before the tour date to inform us. When we arrived we were not offered a refund. We were offered to not go and lose our money, take a tour of castles, or to go a salt mine. This was a bucket list tour for me. And while Viator cannot control the weather, it was their lack of communication and failure to offer a retuned that was most concerning.

Do not book this tour! Worst tour guide ever! - I repeat, do not book this tour. I booked this for my husband and parents and we were so excited for it. We got to the bus stop and asked the guy at the bus stop , “is this the bus to go to the eagles nest?” He confirmed that it was the correct bus and we all got on. Right on time at 830am we departed the bus stop and within seconds of leaving, the tour guide got on the microphone and informed us that eagles nest is full of snow and we would be going to the salt mines instead. The bus was in an uproar as this was the first we were told of this. Had we known before we pulled away, my family and I and I’m sure many other people would have just stayed behind in Munich or booked a different tour. The tour guide showed no remorse about the lack of transparency right off the bat. We ended up starting the tour at Obersalzberg where there was a documentation center which we were told would be included in the tour. Multiple people walked down to the documentation center where they were told there was a fee. The tour guide was informed of this so he did end up going down and paying for everyone’s fees, however at this point several people we had talked to already paid themselves to go in. The tour guide also told us that we would have 2 hours here and then we would stop somewhere for lunch before the salt mines but as it turns out the restaurant he was referring to was at the Obersalzberg site and the majority of the bus did not eat as we thought there would be another stop. Thankfully there was a restaurant at the salt mine site for those that chose not to do that (my family and I did not) and we ended up eating there. When it was finally time to depart, the tour guide/ bus driver took the “scenic route” down a one lane street and put the entire bus in danger when cars began lining up in front of us and we had to back up the entire length of the road which took about half an hour and included many abrupt slamming of the brakes and many close calls of hitting other vehicles and pedestrians. At no point in this tour did I feel a sense of safety or honesty from the tour guide. I think I can speak for the entire bus when I say this tour was not only a waste of time but the tour guide gave us all a sense that we were being lied to and scammed throughout the tour. I would also like to add that when I messaged this tour company about this, they said they just found out the weather was bad and the alternate plan is salt mines apparently in “fine print”, however our tour guide stated after we complained to him about the lack of transparency upfront that they “ didn’t just find out about this and these tours had been cancelled for the past week”. I didn’t catch the tour guides name but he was the worst tour guide I could have ever imagined. 0/10 do not recommend this tour or this company.
