This was the first tour... - This was the first tour that I took when I got to Munich. I had been there for about 3-4 hours and this tour was great to get a sense of the layout of the center of Munich. The guide provided great information about different locations. This tour overlaps with a lot of other walking tours throughout Munich, but does emphasize more of the English Garden and what it was created for. This is a great tour that highlights many points of interest in Munich.

Fun and informative! - Fun and informative! Michael was an excellent tour guide. We really got to see a good portion of the city. Plus Michael gave us an excellent suggestion for a typical Bavarian lunch spot close to the city center. Two thumbs up!

A Wonderful Introduction to Munich and Its History - We took the walking tour as part of our first day in Munich, and it was a great way to get familiar with the Marienplatz and its surrounding streets. Danielle was our guide and she did a fantastic job telling us about the history of the city while we passed through such landmarks as the Frauenkirche and courtyards of the Munich Residenz. Among the fascinating topics she discussed were the period during the 19th and early 20th centuries when Bavaria was a kingdom and the extensive damage done to the city during World War II (and subsequent reconstruction). Danielle also pointed out some of Munich's quirkier aspects - monks on manholes! A makeshift shrine to Michael Jackson! - with a mix of knowledge and good humor. Our most surprising stop (aside from the MJ shrine, perhaps) was to watch people in wetsuits surfing in the not-very-wide Eisbach river. The tour ended in front of the world-famous glockenspiel, and the timing was such that we only had to wait about 15 minutes before the glockenspiel began its show. All in all, we really enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anybody interested in learning about Munich's history.
