Interesting and fun tour with a chocolate bonus - We had a wonderful tour of Munich's Old South Cemetery and surrounds with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. She gave great historical background and context of the cemetery and norms for burials over the years. We really enjoyed our tour! And the hot chocolate shop at the end was a great (and tasty) way to end the event. Well worth the time in this beautiful city!

We loved the Death and Chocolate tour! - My wife and I loved the Death and Chocolate tour, and highly recommend it! It's such a great concept to learn about Munich's history by visiting the graves of many of the folks who helped build and develop the city. We learned about people, plague, personalities, war, companies, government and of course the six families who made Munich a Beer Capital of the world. It was terrific, and not lurid or creepy in any way. The cemetery is really peaceful and lovely to walk through.
Our guide welcomed our many questions and seamlessly wove her answers into her narrative. She also kept it fun and often funny.
The hot chocolate shop we ended at was also superb, and I strongly recommend the Mexican one!

A Perfect Blend of History, Humor, and Haunting Stories! - As a passionate enthusiast of old cemeteries, this tour was everything I could have hoped for and more. It beautifully balanced history, local drama, and fascinating ghost stories, all set against the stunning backdrop of a historic cemetery. Katrina was the perfect guide—her deep knowledge and infectious enthusiasm made each stop feel like a step back in time. She didn’t just show us the famous names, but also highlighted some of the more obscure and unique tombstones, offering fascinating insights into the lives and stories they represent. Her blend of humor and fact made the tour not only informative but genuinely fun, and her attention to detail made sure no stone (literally!) was left unturned. Though the heat kept us from enjoying hot chocolate, Katrina surprised us with ice cream, a thoughtful gesture that topped off an already incredible experience. I highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in history, storytelling, or just exploring a beautiful cemetery in great company!

Amazing time! - Amazing time!
Our guide, Katrina, was exceptional. She was a fountain of knowledge, and left me wanting more. Her delivery was entertaining and fun. The chocolate treat (ice cream) in this case, was the icing on the cake. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in this subject.

Unique tour with some interesting history - Unique tour with some interesting history…I was immediately intrigued with the tour title, “Death and Chocolate”.
If you are looking for a tour with a bit of the macabre and want to know about the different side of German history, definitely do this tour. But you will also see some elaborate graves, remarks on their design and history.
Some professions are noted on the markers so be sure to check it out. You could spend many, many hours here just meandering through taking in the dates alone.
The tour guide takes us through hitting the high points and notable graves; the lady with rose, brewery founders, architects who built Munich, “Christmas massacre” memorial. If your into symbology, you will find some on the makers. There is one gold marker I am still quite fascinated in understanding the meaning. The tour guide was enthusiastic and answered our questions.
The chocolate afterwards was a nice touch after a cold, wet walk through the site.
We recommend this tour - easy to find the pick up location, good walking pace (no rushing at all!), easy to navigate, listen and hear the guide.

Death and Chocolate << >> Death and Chocolate - We were warmly welcomed by the manager of BLACKBOOK TOURS, Katrina, at Sendlinger Tor, and from there we walked to the Old South Cemetery.
If you are interested in history or historical grave sites (like we are) this tour is a must in Munich.
There are a number of graves of famous people, such as Justus von Liebig, Fraunhofer, Pschorr, Spaten, various city architects such as Klenze, Gärtner, etc., Aunt Frieda from Ludwig Thoma's Rascal Stories, the painter Spitzweg, the sculptor from BAVARIA Ludwig von Schwanthaler as well several royal servants at the “Old South Cemetery”. Even if you don't know anything about the "famous people", the grave sites, some of which are very magnificent, are worth a visit.
At the end of the tour we sat down for a “half a beer” in the Faun, as the Götterspeise café was closed due to the holiday. (@Katrina: thank you very much for the drinking chocolate, it tastes delicious!!!)
We were thrilled with this tour, congratulations to Katrina for putting it together so well.

Spooky cemetery tour with hot chocolate to boot! - I am in Munich often with work and have done a few other tours with Katrina and Blackbook Tours, so I was super excited to see a new tour that she's been working on! Such a fun and interesting way to learn some more about Munich's dark history. The old southern cemetery is just stunning, and even though it wasn't the coldest of days, a delicious hot chocolate is always a great way to warm the soul. Once again, Katrina is a top guide and this tour was awesome. Highly recommend to anyone interested in some daytime spooky tours!

Fascinating and Fun! - It was truly fascinating to learn the history of Munich from the headstones in a graveyard! Was a great spring day for a walk with the family and we absolutely loved the ghost stories and the dark history of Munich. So different than your “usual” tours you get elsewhere! The real hit with the family was the hot chocolate! They couldn’t stop raving about it so we had to do some shopping at the chocolate shop! We really enjoyed this. I know you would too!
