Great tour but strenuous - Loved this incredibly beautiful place! We had a great tour that originated in Munich. Great tour guide. Be aware that this is a pretty strenuous tour getting to the Neuschwanstein Castle. We took the bus after a long wait. Then it’s a 15-minute downhill walk to the entrance. You have to time your arrival carefully. We ate lunch with beer first, but that wasn’t a good idea before lots of walking and stairs. Great audio tour and breathtaking views!

Great Tour but Physically Challenging! - This tour was great! The meeting place is a little weird, but you really do get the bus in front of an Eyeglass store in Munich! Follow the directions to the meeting place, and you should find it! Be aware that they leave on time! The bus left 5 minutes after the posted time even though 2 people hadn't shown up yet. Another caution is that I wouldn't recommend this tour for anyone who has physical limitations and can't walk/climb up and down steep hills. It is not for the weak kneed! Even though there is a bus and a horse drawn carriage available, you still have to climb up a hill and a lot of steps in the castle to go on the tour. The lines for the bus and carriage were long, so you might not be able to get on them anyway. Elizabeth (aka Happy Elizabeth!) was a great tour guide. She provided useful and interesting information, but also gave us quiet time to relax and enjoy the scenery. We stopped and got off the bus at 2 separate castles, and we were glad that she told us to return to our same seats when we got back on the bus. We've been on other bus tours that didn't require this, so when we got back on the bus our seats were taken and we had to move our stuff and find other seats. Make sure bring a snack or food with you or eat at one of the restaurants at the base of the Neuschwanstein castle before climbing the hill. By the time we got back down, the bistro and cafes were closed, so we didn't get anything to eat after a long day of hiking. Elizabeth did recommend that people eat beforehand, but regretfully we didn't! She did sell beer and soft drinks on board, but we should have eaten something when we had the chance! Overall, a memorable day and we really enjoyed the experience!

Recommend - An enjoyable and hassle free way to see both the palace and castle. While you do have to pay an additional cost to enter the palace and castle, the tour guide made the ride fun and gave a lot of insight into the history of the sights.

A failed experience due to whether and season - Unfortunately, we could not see anything of Neuschwanstein due to the intense fog and rain. We did not get inside because we did it previously. In Linderhof the experience inside was good, but the gardens were in a bad condition. Must be a summer trip only, not in autumn.
