- Rathaus-Glockenspiel - Discover the history behind Mary’s Column that lends its name to the plaza; explore both the Old and New Town Halls, and the renowned âGlockenspielâ (clock tower). This clock tower, with its 43 bells and 32 moving figures, stands as one of Munich’s most famous landmarks. Hear from your guide about the two significant historical scenes depicted by the animated figures at predetermined times. Just a short distance away is St. Peter’s, the city’s most ancient Catholic church. Next, ensure you catch a glimpse of the distinctive twin spires of the Frauenkirche, Munich’s biggest church, known for the ‘Devil’s Footprint’ and an ominous myth that envelops it. Exactly what we had hoped for - We were looking for a comprehensive walking tour that would show the highlights of the city in the context of its rich history, and that’s exactly what we experienced. We give this tour our highest recommendation. In fact, we will book again for when we bring other family members to the city. At the end of the tour, we were given recommendations for restaurants for lunch and we had a fantastic dining experience. Thanks again for this outstanding tour!
