A fun day off the beaten track in Tokyo - Elly was great and we really enjoyed our day exploring the area with her. Climbing rickety metal stairs to get to a 2nd-floor ramen restaurant in a seedy building was a highlight, as were the rice cracker and miso shops. I think of CB as the Slow Food of small businesses. Wonderful people and stories!

Great Food Tour - The food and the sites were great, carefully selected and well timed. But like any tour, what makes or breaks it is the guide. And we were lucky to have Ken as our guide. He was well informed, interesting, intelligent and fun. He turned a visit to a rice cracker business (yes!) into a highlight. He showed us wonderful, old photos of this multi-generation family run business (in the same location since 1958), with 92 year old mom politely (& proudly, but with humility) looking on. I don’t even like rice crackers- or, at least, I thought I didn’t until now. I’ve been on many food tours - including Culinary Backstreets in Oaxaca- and this one was the best. Cheers!

The best of real Tokyo - Our guide Dennis was very knowledgeable and showed us an area of Tokyo that we would not otherwise have visited. We came away with a very different, and fascinating view of Tokyo. The sushi we tried in the ‘Harmonica’ was far superior to any I've ever tried, and the eel was my favourite. I’d never dared eat eel before! The visit to the family-run rice cracker making shop was also fascinating and delicious - I have lots of rice cracker presents now for friends back home. From bustling markets and bars we came to the tranquil beauty of Inokashira Park. The day was beautifully planned, with a great range of places visited and all at a pace that was very comfortable. I loved the small group too - we were 5 people. The highlight of our time in Tokyo

Wonderful and delicious tasting experience with our excellent guide Dennis! - Our experience was incredible and far exceeded our expectations! We can't say enough about our wonderful guide, Dennis. He was extremely knowledgeable and so easy to talk to and ask questions. Dennis exposed us to a vast array of Tokyo's delicious dishes and exotic foods. From backstreet sushi and sake bars to high-end restaurants, we really enjoyed our day of discovering the what, how, and where the locals of Kichijoji dined. Don't miss the Satou meatballs! We also really appreciated the visit to the family-owned rice cracker shop--what a treat to watch them toasting the crackers in their home-made oven, meeting the lovely owners and then getting to taste the crackers! It was an excellent and delicious experience! Count yourself lucky to go on this tour and to have Dennis as your guide! Definitely, one of the highlights of our trip to Japan!

Kichijoji - a hidden gem - Kichijoji is just a delight and our guide Ken was fabulous! He regaled us with stories and information not only about the food (which was amazing) but also with some of the traditions and ceremonies that have become the Japanese way of life. He was warm and informative and really took good care of the group. From eating Japanese blow fish to a mini masterclass in Miso, this tour was a highlight of my time in Tokyo.
