Very informative city tour - Highly recommend Orient Tours and our guide Rachid was excellent, lots of information about the city and sites we were visiting. the Highlight was the Grand Mosque, what an impressive building. Highly recommend. Muscat covers a huge area and attraction very spread out. Far better value than using a taxi to get around, plus learned a lot about the city and its history.

Fantastic Guide, Interesting sights - Booking was easy, just a small glitch when we were asked to contact the tour operator, but it was only to confirm our departure time. Our driver/guide, Rashid arrived on time with a 6 seater vehicle and 4 passengers including us. He is a very knowledgeable, patient man who answered all of our questions without hesitation. This was my second visit to Muscat but the first time for my friend, nad we enjoyed it immensely. Rashid looked after us very well.

Interesting Tour - Our guide Rashid was excellent on this half day tour to the Mosque, fish market, souk, museum and the palace. There was a cruise ship in and he always seemed to keep us one step ahead - this was particularly useful at the museum which was not very large. We saw all the major sights with plenty of time at each. He was very informative on our visit to the mosque and again kept us away from the crowds. A really good introduction to Muscat and as it was just a small group of 9 it was almost like a private tour.

He took us first to the Sultan Qaboob mosque, very beautiful contemporary Islamic architecture, then we went to the fish and vegetable market, which I personally would remove from the itinerary for lack of relevance and stay more time at the Muttra souk, this place has a lot to offer in diversity. Also we visited Muscat downtown with the official palace and a museum. In general the tour was very good, it covers a lot.</p>

Morning tour of Muscat - disappointing - My wife and I scheduled a morning tour of Muscat. It began badly when a tour vehicle showed up for six of us that was clearly undersized. Viator's Oman manager is apparently trying to save money by using small vehicles. The ride was uncomfortable for all concerned. The tour of the Mosque was ok but after that when the description says you will see the forts and palace they literally mean you will see them and the guide will ask if you want to spend the time to get out of the small vehicle to take a picture. The guide was ok but kept asking if we really wanted to see some of the places or skip them. Maybe he was late for the next tour. We stopped at the Souk and he pointed it out then left us on our own saying he would come back to pick us up in an hour. I am at a loss to explain how there were praiseworthy reviews on Viator's website if in fact they were legitimate. While the tour did not cost much I would have to say it would have been inexpensive at half the price.
