The souq is divided into various sections, each specializing in different types of goods such as spices, dates, handicrafts, silver jewelry, and pottery. A highlight of the souq is the Friday cattle market, where locals engage in buying and selling livestock in a vibrant and colorful setting. The souq’s atmosphere, with its narrow alleyways and traditional architecture, provides a unique and authentic shopping experience. Nizwa Souq is a local marketplace that offers a variety of goods including jewelry, pottery, fish, and meats, among others.
- Nizwa Fort Oman - Following the visit to Nizwa Souq, the next stop is Nizwa Fort, a large castle in Nizwa, Oman, built in the seventeenth century. It is a popular tourist destination. The journey begins in Muscat, heading to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman, to visit the famous Nizwa Fortress. Today, the fort serves as a museum showcasing the history of the fort and the surrounding area. Walking through the fortress offers amazing views of the ancient town and the nearby mountains. This impressive fortress was a military base used to withstand the toughest attacks and sieges.
- Birkat Al Mouz - Afterward, the journey continues to the foot of Jebel Akhdar, to an old village called Birkat Al Mauz, followed by a visit to the Irrigation System of Al Kattmyn, one of the five irrigation systems recognized by UNESCO as heritage.
- Jebel Akhdar - From there, the journey ascends to Jebel Akhdar, also known as the Green Mountain, which is home to many fruit plantations and rose gardens. Visitors can take the time to walk through the hills and enjoy the valley views. Jebel Akhdar offers a lot to explore before heading back to Muscat.
