Al Hamra - Continue driving for another 45 minutes to reach Al Hamra. This historic town, with its mudbrick houses, provides an ideal setting for a lunch break.
Jebel Shams - Embark on an off-road adventure to the summit of Jebel Shams, the highest peak in Oman. The stunning view over the valley is truly worth a pause.
Misfat al Abreyeen - Before arriving in Nizwa, the final destination of the day, make a stop at Misfat Al Abriyeen. Spend an hour walking through this genuine mountain village to experience the local lifestyle. Finally, reach Nizwa for a well-deserved rest.
Nizwa and Wahiba Sands
Nizwa - If visiting Nizwa on a Friday, rise early to witness the Cattle Market. Enjoy this vibrant exchange between traders and buyers for about half an hour. Regardless of the day, explore local treats at Nizwa Souk before ascending the ancient Fort.
Zukait Tombs - The Zukait Tower Tombs in Izki are a remarkably preserved site, recognized by UNESCO as a fossilized Bronze Age landscape, serving as a time capsule from the BCE era. This rich landscape, home to beehive tombs, was designated a World Heritage Site in 1988 and continues to provide valuable insights for archaeologists worldwide.
Wahiba Sands - Depart the city and drive two hours to the Bedouin land of Wahiba Sands. In the heart of the dunes, meet the Arabian nomadic tribe at their desert camp, where you will spend the night. Upon request, enjoy camel rides or other sand activities. In the evening, savor a traditional barbecue and marvel at the starry sky.
Ras al-Jinz
Wadi Bani Khalid - After a traditional desert breakfast, bid farewell to the Bedouin family and drive two hours towards the east coast. Discover Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most renowned wadis, an oasis. Swim in its expansive natural pools and unwind amidst the palm tree scenery.
Sur - A two-hour drive leads to the fishing city of Sur. With its seaside location, it’s perfect for a picnic before visiting the Dhow Boat Yards or enjoying a half-hour walk along the beachfront.
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve - Conclude the day with a drive to Ras al Jinz beach, home to the Turtle Reserve, where endangered green turtles find sanctuary. At night, they come ashore to lay eggs, a spectacle you might witness. Note: The peak season for turtle watching is from May to August, so this activity is not guaranteed.
Ras al Hadd Castle - The beaches at Ras Al Hadd and nearby Ras al-Jinz are renowned as breeding grounds for green sea turtles.
Wadi Shab & Bimmah Sinkhole
Wadi Shab - Set off early for the final day of exploration, beginning with Wadi Shab. The best way to explore is on foot, so prepare for an easy 45-minute hike. Embrace getting wet as you encounter numerous waterfalls and natural pools. Swim and relax in this stunning natural setting. On the return drive, make a quick stop at nearby Fins Beach with its pristine white sands. Enjoy another swim here after a beachside picnic.
Bimmah Sinkhole - A 20-minute drive north reveals the natural marvel of Bimmah Sinkhole, a large, deep cave with a natural pool. Legend has it that it was formed by a falling star.
