Exploring Notable Sites, Peaks, and Coastal Sceneries with Muscat City Tours
The brief description fittingly underscores the primary features of the Muscat City Tours.
- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - One of the world’s largest mosques, open from Saturday to Thursday between 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. It is closed on Fridays. Here, you can marvel at the second-largest handmade carpet globally and the renowned chandelier in the main prayer hall. Opened in 2001, this magnificent marble mosque is among the largest in the Gulf, accommodating up to 20,000 worshipers. Constructed from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone, the main prayer hall is a square measuring 74.4 by 74.4 meters (244 by 244 feet), with a central dome rising 50 meters (160 feet) above the floor. The dome, the main minaret (90 meters (300 feet)), and four flanking minarets (45.5 meters (149 feet)) are the mosque’s primary visual features.
