A wonderful experience - What a wonderful way to spend time in Nadi! If you’re looking for something to do other than island hopping and souvenir shopping, where you’ll see stunning, lush scenery and spend time with local people, this is the tour for you. Peni’s adult son Penu and daughter Emily were the guides for myself and another solo traveller (who was good company too!). They were lovely, and great at setting the right pace and making sure we were enjoying the hike. I found the hike to the waterfall (~75 mins up, but faster down!) a bit strenuous so I wouldn’t recommend this tour for younger children, or anyone not basically fit, but you can totally set your own pace and take your time with plenty of stops to view the increasingly gorgeous scenery. Plus you are rewarded with a cooling waterfall at the top! The village lunch was very special, to be welcomed into someone’s home, and the food made with fresh local vegetables and eggs was delicious. Highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful views, outstanding guide - Peni is a fantastic guide and provides so much information and history of the area. The hike to the waterfall is not too difficult and the payoff is amazing! It was an overcast, warm, muggy day when we went, but by the water it was cool and refreshing. Peni has a passion for the area and perfectly paces the hike for the group.

Korayanitu waterfall hike - The hike up to the waterfall was amazing. Peni was very helpful and would periodically stop to tell us fun facts and history of Fiji as we ascended to the waterfall. Its very obvious Peni is respected and liked among the community in Abaca where the hike began. The hike can be quick if you want (2.5 hours) or you can go at your own pace and make it longer if you want. Id recommend this hike and really Peni in generaly, hes a great guy I loved his "4x4", great car!

Great walk, fantastic culture experience - This is a fantastic tour to gain knowledge of Fijian native landscape and culture. Peni is an amazing guy with enthusiasm to showcase the culture if you are willing to explore on this tour. An easy return walk to the waterfall and a tasty local lunch in the village, I learnt so much about Fijian culture through the land and a lovely chat with Peni. Running on a shoestring budget and with helping the community in mind, Peni's tour was a great opportunity for me to see more Fijian landscape and culture. By the way Peni is saving up for a proper 4x4 to help with the tour, anyone interested could invest, good luck with everything, Peni, Vinaka!

Peni, the man, the myth, the legend - Peni is an incredible guide - I learned so much about Fijian culture and history, flora and fauna, and all round had an amazing time. This is the perfect outing if you're keen for some activity, but not have it be the full basis of the day. I cannot recommend him enough, I'm only sorry I booked through Viator and not directly through him. He'll tailor tours to suit your specific needs and wants if you like!

MUST DO IN FIJI!! - This was truly a special experience. Hiking the highlands above Lautoka offers incredible views. There is a mix of vegetation from dense scrub, to open grassland as well as thick tropical jungle. The waterfall was a perfect way to cool off after the big hike. But the stand out experience was sharing lunch with the local villagers afterwards. Incredibly welcoming, humble and the food was delicious! As for Peni, our guide, I cannot speak more highly of him. Peni was incredibly tentative to our needs, making sure we were well looked after every step of the way. From pick up to drop off. He also had great knowledge of Fiji’s history, the land and way of life. If you haven’t booked this already, do it now!

A “must do” to experience the real Fiji! - An amazing experience from start to finish. The walk to the waterfall was spectacular, as was the waterfall itself. The tiny village where the trek started and ended was truly authentic and the villagers were so welcoming. The day would not have been as enjoyable without our exceptional guide, Peni. What a knowledgeable and lovely man! He told us stories all day about the geography and history of the area, and he and my husband had a great chat about the rugby league! A truly lovely man who clearly loves his country and his people. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience abit of the Fiji that sits outside of the resort boundaries.

Tremendous Day of Hiking at Abaca and the Koroyanitu Forest - My wife and I, both seniors, really enjoyed our customized hike with Peni in May. We exchanged emails with Peni beforehand, which helped him prepare an itinerary that was perfect for us. Peni and his driver picked us up in a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle in Lautoka and drove us to Abaca Village. At the Village, we learned that Peni has a great relationship with those who reside in Abaca. Peni took care to check with us as to whether our preferences had changed since arriving in Fiji. He chose a route to the Tunutunu Waterfall in the Koroyanitu Forest that was perfect for us, just the correct level of difficulty and length. Along the way, we stopped whenever we needed to, and he filled us in regarding sites along the way. As the dry season had just started, the weather co-operated with our plans and the path, though not completely dry was passable. Peni assisted us in fording streams, identifying which rocks to use as stepping stones. Without his help, my wife would not likely have felt as comfortable crossing these water courses. At the top of the trail, we reached Tunutunu Waterfall, which was splendid, and gave me an opportunity to cool off in the quiet pool beneath. We picked up walking sticks along the way which helped us with our footing and me in walking into the water with Peni's assistance. Along the way, Peni pointed out some ripe breadfruit about 30 feet above us in a tree. He told us that on the way back, he would climb the tree to retrieve it for his meal that evening. While we initiallyl thought he was joking, he proceeded to climb the tree like a teenager when on our return trip from the waterfall. A most interesting sidelight to our hike, something that he told us he had not tried to do for more than 25 years. Along our way, we shared many laughs and anecdotes, which helped us gain a better grasp of life for Fijians, which we would not have gained any other way. When we descended the trail and arrived at the village, we were welcomed into the home of one of the residents, who had prepared a tasty and traditional lunch for us in her home. We learned that Peni is the only tour guide who has made arrangements with the village to have a complete rotation of viilagers who offer lunches to his guests. He has eaten in all of the residents' homes in Abaca. This helps spread around the proceeds of our guided tour with residents of the entire Village of Abaca. We highly recommend Peni, a former Rosies Holidays guide, in his professional business endeavour!
