The Nagarjuna hill, also referred to as Vindya Mountain, is a revered site for both Hindus and Buddhists. During our day hike to Jamacho, we traverse through Shivapuri Nagarjuna National Park and venerate the Nagarjuna Buddha.
Atop Nagarjuna hill, visitors can discover a diminutive effigy of Nagarjuna Buddha at the picturesque Jamacho Monastery. Being part of Nagarjun National Park’s terrain, it offers panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and provides opportunities to take stunning photographs of Nepal.

This journey involves traversing through the Nagarjan jungle that doubles as a national park at the Kathmandu capital city’s outskirts. The final destination is the significant Jamacho Monastry, reaching which is an achievement in itself.
Nestled on top of the Nagarjun hill, the breathtaking Jamacho Monastery houses a petite statue of the Nagarjuna Buddha. The eastern part of this stupa showcases two lines of effigies representing Buddhist deities, making for a spectacular view, irrespective of your religious beliefs. The trek rewards you with a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley, as well as distant peaks of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang mountain ranges.
