Highlights
  • Nagasaki Peace Park - The Nagasaki Peace Park (

    , Heiwa K
en) is a tranquil space that commemorates the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, which destroyed a significant portion of the city and killed tens of thousands of inhabitants. The complex is comprised of two parks and a memorial museum.

In the center of the complex is the Hypocenter Park with a simple, black monolith that marks the explosion’s epicenter. Not far from it stands a damaged pillar of the former Urakami Cathedral which was destroyed in the blast. Furthermore, there is an area that allows visitors to take a look at a layer of soil below the park’s surface where broken roof tiles, bricks and pieces of glass remain from the explosion.

We had a very interesting... - We had a very interesting day, visiting the Observatory overlooking Nagasaki, we travelled by public transport to visit the Peace Park, Ground Zero and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, finishing up at Glover Gardens then returned back to Port. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Norah who made our tour very enlightening, sharing much information with us and getting us around town with ease. One of our best days in Japan. We were very happy with this tour and would encourage others to do it. Norah made it one of our best days in Japan.

Customizable tour means you experience what is important to you - Yoshi is an incredible guide with powerful and personal ties to the city. While the rest of the ship was loading onto buses we bypassed the chaos with Yoshi. She met us at the dock with a sign and a smile. My husband, our adult son, and I were quickly whisked away by taxi to see what we had previously chosen at exactly the pace we wanted. And the price was about the same as a ship excursion for 3. Great decision to see Nagasaki this way.

Nagasaki Private Tour - Yoshi was a wonderful guide who helped make a cold and rainy day still into a great tour of Nagasaki. Our daughter (10) enjoyed as well as we explored the more somber parts including the hypocenter, the atomic bomb museum and Peace Park, then ventured to enjoy the views from Mt. Inasayama and the history of Dejima. Yoshi had lots of great local knowledge having grown up here and her explanations were clear and helpful. Thank you for the great tour and the tips we followed for the next day.

Great, personalised tour with some sweet touches - We went for a half day tour with Yashiko Hattori. She was so diligent, she even sent a Youtube link introducing herself before the tour! never had that happen before. She explained how her father survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb blast by hiding behind a heavy steel plate in his factory, and his story was one reason why she became a tour guide to better explain this part of Nagasaki's history. We toured the old quarter, and she brought us to a dedicated cat-themed shop filled with lovely cat themed japanese souvenirs - wonderful!

Wow what a tour by Yoshi! - We had a fantastic day with Yoshi (Yoshiko Hattori). She picked us up from the cruise port. We had a lovely 4 hours. She took us to the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace park as discussed in our emails. We then took a gondola for a fantastic view and finally to Spectacle Bridge and a walk along the oldest street. Yoshi was friendly very knowledgeable and very efficient. She taught us how to make an origami crane too. We highly recommend a touch her. Thank you Yoshi you made our trip to Nagasaki amazing and unforgettable. We loved meeting you. Thanks for helping me find my Kokeshi dolls!

A step into history - Our guide Norah-San gave us an excellent tour through Japan’s history with the West from the 16th to the 20th century. She also went out of her way to help us find places to buy presents for our granddaughters.

This tour is 5-star golden - The best part of this tour was our guide!!! Yoshi was amazing and able to tell the story of the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki from the viewpoint of survivors (her father). She shared many stories about life in Nagasaki, the culture, and shared some amazing views. It was one of the best tours I have had.
