In the Nahuatl language, it means “the four Izalcos.” In this town, we will have the chance to learn about one of the historical events that have significantly impacted the cultural and indigenous heritage of our country. You will enjoy visiting the municipal market, where locals sell their fresh products daily. Here, you can taste some tropical fruits. Nahuizálco is renowned for its wicker and tule handicrafts, used to create baskets, chairs, mats, and more.
- Apaneca - Another must-see destination on the Flowers Route tour is Apaneca. This city, the highest in elevation in El Salvador, offers optional extra activities. In Apaneca, you can explore the largest maze in Central America, experience the thrill of driving a buggy (ATV) through the volcanic cordillera, or enjoy the excitement of ziplining over coffee plantations. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, you can stroll through the colorful town and admire the coffee plantations.
- Concepcion de Ataco - The final town on the Flowers Route is the vibrant city of Concepcion de Ataco. This charming town is famous for its beautiful murals that decorate every corner. The calm cobblestone streets make you feel as if you’ve traveled back in time. Ataco is known for producing the best quality coffee in El Salvador. Here, you can complete your experience with a visit to a coffee farm, where you can learn about the entire coffee production process, from planting to brewing.
- El Carmen Estate - Here, we will take a coffee tour and visit a coffee processing plant that has been in operation since 1930. We will learn about the transformation process, from the arrival of freshly cut coffee to its final presentation in a cup.
- Termales de Santa Teresa - After exploring the best attractions of the Ruta de Las Flores, it’s time to relax at a small resort hidden in the mountains. This resort features beautiful hot water pools of varying temperatures, heated by volcanic activity. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit.
