The trip of a lifetime that exceeded what I could have ever imaged! - Words and pictures could never do justice to our magical experience! The Odyssey team created us the most incredible journey with no stone unturned . We didn’t have to think of ANYTHING! There were 8 of us and everyone was treated personally and all needs were met. That’s a challenge in itself . The accommodations were top notch, the food was great, the service incredible and the GAME DRIVES…! Our guides Charles and George were like family, they were so invested on getting us to see everything and anything we wanted and they were so knowledgeable , explaining culture, animals , habitats, they have years of experience . We saw over 76 species of wildlife! We experienced the wildebeest migration which you can’t even describe in words. We went on a hot air balloon which was breathtaking, we had a bush dinner which was the best ending to our trip. Everything Odyssey did and planned exceeded our expectations and it was the most incredible adventure I have ever experienced . I would never hesitate to recommend ! We have friends who went a few months prior and spent 10x what we did and I KNOW they couldn’t have had more of an experience . Choose Odyssey and for sure Charles or George !

An Adventure of a Lifetime - There aren’t enough superlatives to describe this adventure. Our guide, Charles, along with Lucy and her team, truly delivered the trip of a lifetime. Safety was always the top priority, and any concerns were promptly addressed. The accommodations and food were exceptional—first-class all the way. One of our group members has Celiac Disease, and at every stop, the head chef personally ensured her meals were carefully prepared. We were incredibly fortunate to see 4 of the Big 5 up close, though the elusive Jaguar remained just out of reach despite our best efforts. Breakfast with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background was absolutely breathtaking. Everywhere we went, the people of Kenya were genuinely warm and welcoming. Our advice? Bring your camera, binoculars, and enjoy the spectacular display that nature offers.

Family Safari with Odyssey Safaris - memories for a lifetime! - An incredible safari experience with our family! We were specifically recommended this trip with Odyssey Safaris because our friends were extremely pleased with the experience. Indeed, they even recommended Jackson Miano as our guide, and Odyssey accommodated this request. While the safari itself was fantastic, Jackson was a superb guide, with deep knowledge of the animals and birds, but also geography/geology, and even international affairs that impact Kenya and the wider continent of Africa. And the big plus with Jackson - his deep voice carries extremely well, with everyone in the jeep able to hear his information and insights! Yes, the jeep rides between the various parks and reserves were indeed long (4-7 hours depending on traffic), our two guides immediately set about making the most of the places we would end up. The lodges were also wonderful - even the more rustic ones had beautiful grounds, and the staff at all the lodges were extremely friendly and accommodating. And I must mention our 2nd guide, Antony, who was quite knowledgeable in his own right. On our day in Nairobi, one in our group had need of hospital care. Antony took this person to the hospital (he specifically chose which one), and stayed with the person and their spouse during the whole hospital visit, then brought them back to the lodge after midnight. We are extremely grateful to both our guides, Jackson and Antony, and the Odyssey staff for taking care of us during our stay. I highly recommend this tour company for a journey of a lifetime!

Fantastic experience! - This was one of the favorite trips of my life. We are a large group of friends and family members, made the trip, and could not have been happier with the organization, communication, responsiveness, and the quality of her guides. Trip of a Lifetime - This was a truly unforgettable experience. Our guide, Jackson, was very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna of Kenya and patiently answered all of our many questions. Thanks to him, we were able to see the big five as well as many elusive animals, including a cheetah! All of our accommodations and meals were amazing. We had two vegetarians on the trip and they were very well-fed. Overall an incredible trip.

Great family trip - We started planning for our safari about a year in advance and Lucy was amazing and helped us with every step on the way including the day of our arrival. My family spent most of our time with Jackson since we had two guides but both Jackson and Aristus were so amazing. Kept us safe and kept the kids busy and involved. An amazing trip - way better than expected and the guides were a HUGE part of the successful trip ❤️

A great safari - Our 8-night safari to Kenya began in late May and ended in early June. We used Odyssey Safaris, and we couldn’t be more pleased with them. Right from the beginning we were in contact with Michael .K. Ndung’u and he was always quickly responsive and very clear in communicated clearly and answered all of our questions. We made some requests for the safari, and they were all met or accommodated in some manner. We even were invited to have a video call with Michael and Mr. Elud, the guide supervisor to review our itinerary prior to our travels to make sure that everything was set up as planned. Mr. Elud also met us in Nairobi to answer any questions that we had. Erastus met us at the airport when we arrived and was with us throughout our time in Kenya. He was very attentive to our needs and requests. As I mention later, due to the recent flooding, driving in some areas was difficult and he was able to get us to see all that was possible given the conditions. In fact, he ended up pulling two vehicles that were stuck in the mud out of their stuck position. Throughout the trip Erastus’s expertise was evident and he was able to get us to good positions to see many exciting opportunities to see the animal experiences that make safaris so enjoyable. We had a fantastic safari with Odyssey Tours and Erastus as our tour guide. This was our fifth African Safari and third time in Kenya. We started in Nairobi and visited the Sheldrick Conservation Center. Here we stood around a circle and watched two groups of baby and young elephants walk around, drink from very large bottles with huge nipples on them, and chew on provided tree branches. When they would walk around they were close enough to touch. The special treat was a recently rescued baby Rhino who seemed to be imprinted on his handler and wouldn’t leave more than a foot from his side. Next was the giraffe center where we fed several giraffes with their tongues reaching out for the provided pellets. We stayed two nights in the Safari Park Hotel which was nice and clean. Our room was in the elephant section and was on the second floor. Next, we headed to Amboseli National Park. The elephants are the main attraction there. One of the benefits of having a great tour guide is that he knows the animals and the parks so he gets you in the best position for viewing the animals when you want to see them. There we were in the front of the many elephants crossing the road on their way from the water holes and mud that they spend much of the day and return to the areas where they spend the night. What made our position terrific was that as the elephants crossed in front of us staring right at us was snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro. Not only was this a heart stopping moment but made for wonderful pictures and memories. While at Amboseli we visited, a Masai village. Seeing how the Masai live was eye opening. In the world of WIFI, which was available in all of our lodges, they had no electricity. Lived in homes that were made of branches covered with dirt and cow dung. The men tend the cows and goats, and the women make handmade jewelry, do the cooking, and care for the children. Regarding the children they are essentially brought up communally and attend a local school where they would walk generally 5 kilometers (3 miles) to and back from school. They also have their own “doctors” who provide herbal medicine. We stayed at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge. While the lodge was not officially in the National Park it was only a ten minute or less drive to the entrance. We had our own permanent tent that was not huge but comfy. Hot water for showers was only available for part of the time but that didn’t affect us since we were out in our safari vehicle looking for or at the animals or at the scenery. One of the benefits of being on safari is that your main purpose is to look around and see what is there. We saw many different birds at Amboseli, actually in all of the parks, and Erastus was able to tell us what they were and often he would point them out in a book of birds for us to learn a little more about them. Next we drove to Lake Naivasha where we stayed at the Naivasha Sopa Lodge. This lodge has separate stone buildings with two rooms on the ground level and two rooms upstairs. Uniquely, on the grounds there are zebras, waterbucks, and sometimes even giraffes roaming around where you can walk with them. This is a must stay place. We then went on a small boat ride on Lake Naivasha. The boat is manned by a guide who knows the history as well as the places to steer the boat. This was a pleasant boat ride. It was slow and relaxing a very big contrast from the game drives that are at time fast and bumpy. On the lake there are hippos that we got near but not too near. There are many birds and our boatsman knew all of them but the special on this ride was the African eagle. The boatsman whistled and held up a fish. The eagle who was up high up on a tree swooped down toward our boat got the fish and flew back to the tree branch. The next day we went on a day trip to Lake Nakuru where there was a rhino, cape buffalo, zebras, water bucks, brown bucks, and many birds. Unfortunately, due to the flooding that had occurred a few weeks before we went the bridge that would have allowed us to go around the lake was washed out so we were only able to see one side and the water was still too high so the flamingos which are generally there in huge numbers had gone elsewhere. The next day we drove to Masai Mara. Our permanent tented, the Ashnil Mara Camp where we stayed for two nights, was on the Mara River so after we went through the gate, we had a game drive on our way to check in. I mention this because I recommend this camp but especially one that is inside the park. We ended up seeing a pride of lions who were walking through the high grass. Erastus maneuvered our vehicle to where the lions were walking and as they were walking by us they decided it was hot and sunny so four of them decided to lay down right next to us in the shade of the vehicle. I could but decided it wasn’t a good idea to reach down to pet them. Due to the high water that was also at Masai Mara there was a lot of areas where the driving was difficult. Erastus did a great job in getting us to where we were going. The Ashnil Mara Camp was right on the river and down below you could see hippos where they stayed throughout the day. The tent there was spacious and had a little deck where you could sit but we were so busy going on our game drives or enjoying the camp we didn’t have nor wanted much time to sit on the deck. While we were in Masai Mara we went on game drives on the way in and on the way out as well three other games drives. We saw several lion prides, two cheetah families, many elephants, cape buffalo, topi, giraffe, hippos, wildebeest, zebra, warthog, Thompson gazelles, and impala. One of the lion groups were dining on an impala and one of the cheetah’s meals that we saw was a small Thompsons gazelle. As we were about to go on our drive out from the camp, Erastus had a call from a friend of his who is a park ranger. We went to a new area and there it was a giraffe who had been killed by lions and there were two female lions getting full on the giraffe with the male lion looking on. Also about a hundred yards away were two spotted hyenas who were there awaiting their turn.

Odyssey Safaris - a Trip of a Life Time - I had 2 awesome adventures while on safari with Odyssey Safaris January 2023 and July 2024. Our Guide Simon Wachira brought us to places to see the Big 5 (African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and Rhinoceros). He shows his compassion, knowledge and respect for the animals, the environment and residents of Kenya. Simon taught us the difference between Giraffes, Zebras and how to tell if it is a Gazelle or Impala. Warthogs are known as praying animals due to its very short neck requires them to kneel to eat. Looks like they are praying. Simon also called them Kenya Express as you only see their upright tails as they run through the tall grasses. I have so many photos of the animals such as the Mongoose, Jackal, Cape Hare, Baboons, Vervet Monkey, Bushback, Waterbuck and Eland in their natural habitats and a photo of me at the Equator. I also witnessed the Great Migration of the Wildebeest as they migrated from Tanzania’s Serengeti to the Kenya’s Masai Mara. To see it on TV is one thing but to actually see 1,000s and 1,000s of Wildebeest creates a lifelong memory. I was able to feed and pet Baraka, a blind Black Rhino on the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The Camps, Lodges and Hotels staff greet each person with a warm welcome and a smile. The lodging and meals were excellent with each place known for their own specialty from what animals are on the Reserve to entertainment. These are just a few highlights of the Safari offered by Odyssey Safaris. I am already planning another trip next year to share these experiences with other friends who have seen my photos on Facebook.

( African Safari )Trip of a life time - The trip of a lifetime. The wild animals were so great to see in thier natural habitat. Our driver Charles did a great job of getting us close but never put us in harms way. Odyssey did a great job of booking us at great locations and the food was great. Had a concern about water but the driver always had an ample supply of clean pure water always in our vehicle. A great time was had by all. Three couples and the driver in our vehicle so all had an oportunity to see and take pictures. Would suggest this trip for those looking for a great saffari trip.

Trip of a lifetime - This is a First Class Organization that was always in touch with us to make sure we were prepared for our trip and had all the necessary documentation before traveling. Charles was at the airport waiting on us and provided us with great service our whole trip . From answering all of our questions to pointing out animals that we could not even see there we always felt safe in his care . He even had books with pictures and write ups about all the birds and animals we saw . He made our trip and we thought of him as family when he dropped us off at the airport this afternoon. I did a lot of research on safari companies before booking this and I really feel it paid off . I would encourage anyone thinking of a trip like this to go with them . It made our first trip to Kenya one we will never forget.
